Assuming that the topic of the paper were relevant to your work, would you recommend adopting the intervention described by the authors in the paper, and why or why not?
The topic was executed using the pilot study. The research approach is eloquent towards determining the effectiveness of the proposed final research design. It incorporated various modes of data collection as well as a range of participants just to identify the efficiency of the applied methods. Since the concerns about the healthcare interventions require quality and major scrutiny of the recommended actions towards providing the best mechanism for enhancing the health of the people. The interventions adopted were the pilot study, multiple linear regression analysis, and art intervention (Nyamathi & Et al., 2013).
The scope of the research topic was to provide a mechanism for enhancing the current knowledge prior understanding the trends in the respective medical conditions over a given period. The intervention used is appropriate since it engages an extendable group of participants; professionals and potential by victims to be. Also, it is ideal for the author to apply the intervention because it provides a good way of determining the appropriate method of acquiring data from the actual extensive research. Various methods for data collection were used thus capturing the information.
Above all, the pilot research approach provides a good mechanism for analyzing the captured data.

The intervention provided a better way of outlining the facts about the HIV, Hepatitis and drug abuse across the society thus generating new insights about the subject. Therefore, I do recommend the intervention despite the fact that the author failed to use them appropriately.

Having a closer look at the article, one can easily learn that authors employed relevant statistical techniques in the form of multiple linear regression analysis and R-square among others. However, it is a big fail on the on the authors part as they did not use proper data presentation techniques. This is since all the data analyzed were presented in a prose form without the use of visual techniques such as tables and charts as suggested in Warner. For instance, the tabling results from regression analysis could have created a good visual impression and data could have been easily interpreted (Nyamathi & Et al., 2013).
Also, the graph could have served as the best method of presenting the cognitive and transmission knowledge sub-scale scores to show how they improved. It is therefore evident that authors did not follow the guidelines and suggestions documented in Warner as far as data presentation is concerned.
The paper includes R^2 values. Assume that a colleague who had no statistical background asked you to explain what those R squared values meant. What would be your response?
R-squared refers to a measure in statistics that shows the closeness of the data obtained from research to the line of regression. The R-squared measure is also referred to as the coefficient of multiple determinations of the multiple regressions or simply the coefficient of determination. While interpreting the R-squared, the lower percentage indicates little model explanation on the variability of the response data revolving the mean. On the other hand, the higher R-squared percentage shows that the model does explain numerous variabilities of the response data around its mean.
Therefore, ranging from “R-squares for the models from .28 for HBV and HCV knowledge and HIV/AIDS transmission” to .37 for total knowledge means literally should be mean a low fit of the statistical model (Nyamathi & Et al., 2013). However, research involving human behaviors such as their personal opinions usually depend on their psychology hence such research works are always characterized by the low value of the R-squares.

The arguments provided by the research are unjustifiable. The author does not provide effective arguments to justify the research findings. There are many occasions where arguments are too general without supportive materials. The CDC instruments were modified as mentioned but there was no substantiation of the action. Secondly, the analysis of the continuous variable data was done to measure the normality which had not described as well (Nyamathi & Et al., 2013).
In some outcomes, figures are provided for example the measure of depressive symptomatology is allocated a figure which has not been illustrated as for how it was obtained. The paper lacks tables that summarize the data collected alongside the analytical results since the method of multiple linear regressions was applied.
As well there are no graphs that have been integrated to illustrate the results obtained. There are many failed arguments apart from the few mentioned thus describing the justification of the topic was never achieved.

The ability of the researcher to effectively employ the pilot study and multiple linear regression analysis can be said to have a positive impact on the overall research work. However, the report captures limited limitations, and yet the research work covers a broad topic that is expected to be marred by numerous difficulties that might impact the final results.
Having a smaller sample size that every participant presents individual’s point of view, the research can be said to have failed to cover the compact majority of the interested group. It is, therefore, an opportunity for the authors to conduct more comprehensive research in future that should involve a large population sampled randomly and the one that will incorporate more strategies to improve the rate of research completion. It is indeed an opportunity since the authors have a vast experience in working with the youths who do not have homes.
