The career of criminal justices makes an individual come across different people who may in need of various services. The criminal justices practitioner has the role to ensure that everyone is served according to the law and fair and just process of prosecution takes place. The practitioners in the field meet mentally ill persons, and hence a good strategy is needed to ensure that the process is done fairly without negative effects on both the individuals and the practitioners. Therefore, good preparation of the practitioner may have positive yields after that, and hence it should be embraced.
The criminal justice practitioner needs to avoid any bias or misconception before he or she meets the person who has a mental illness. The pre-decision of what the person is to say makes one have less concern on what he or she states since the practitioner already has the answer expected. Therefore, the criminal justice officer should avoid all the external information that may make him put less concern on the information given by the individual. For instance, he should base his conclusion on the information given by the members of the society they may be false (Hiday, & Burns, 2010).
The practitioner also needs to do consultation from the experts in psychology and psychiatry so that he can get the best method to acquire information from the mentally ill person.

Also, in some instances, the practitioner may request the experts in the human mind to accompany him or her so that they can assist him or her in helping the mentally ill (Hiday, & Burns, 2010). The professional can be used to offer medication needed to make the individual calm down if they are suspected to be violent. Therefore, if the above-discussed issues are followed, then the practitioner can successfully assist the mentally ill.
