Critical Thinking Media: The Addiction 1995
The Addiction is an American Vampire film released in 1995. The movie contains some intellectual and philosophical content whereby the characters in the film quote Descartes, Husserl, and Feuerbach among others. In the film, Kathleen was attacked by a vampire which asks Kathleen that she should order her to live. When she becomes weak and fails to do so, she is bitten by the Vampire whereby she ends up turning into one. It is believed that vampires do not die; however, they have to feast on human blood. At first, Kathleen attacked her first victim as well as converted her. The vampires claim that humans are too weak to resist them (“Addiction 1995,” 2013). During Kathleen’s graduation, she and her colleagues attack the other persons present at the graduation ceremony.
The movie talks about human weakness and their failure to deny or resist issues affecting them. The human weakness prevention is an aspect that people should learn to overcome. Accordingly, people do not have to live based on some pre-defined philosophies. The movie also discusses the issue of the failure of both the vampire and humans to lack the capability to end or escape the temptation of the vampires; hence the reason why humans are victims of the vampires (Seligman & Csikszentmihalyi, 2014). The addiction to alcohol and vampire addition to blood might be aspects of life that need improvement.

The human weakness and failure to make effective decisions are believed to emanate from a person’s logic. The scientists and revolutionists argue that since time immemorial, people have been conditioned to live ethically and according to the rules set. However, training ourselves to do things differently may eventually lead to our powerful conquering of difficult moments (Seligman & Csikszentmihalyi, 2014). For instance, one vampire in the films claims to have abstained from drinking blood to the extent that it has almost become human again.
