Cyberbullying is harassment where a bully uses technology to harass and intimidate his or her victim. The most common means through which cyberbullying occurs are the internet, communication devices, and social platforms. This paper provides an annotated bibliography of credible and reliable sources on cyberbullying.
Bauman, S. (2015). Developmental Factors in Cyberbullying. Cyberbullying, 71-83
Sheri Bauman explains how various factors develop and culminate to cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is a prevalent vice amongst young people. Most people develop a liking for technology and social media at a young age. Due to increased usage of technology, youngsters may find themselves being victims of cyberbullying. Lack of parental guidance is also a factor that largely contributes to cyberbullying. Most parents pay little attention to how their children spend their time online. Lack of interest may cause youngsters to be either victims or perpetrators of cyberbullying. Bauman also argues that failure to take immediate action against culprits is a factor that encourages cyber bullies. Bauman’s point of view will be instrumental in my research paper since it shows some of the factors that encourage cyberbullying. Sheri Bauman is a renowned professor at the University of Arizona. She has carried out extensive research on cyberbullying, peer victimization and bullying. Her work is credible and reliable.

In the article, Campbell and Bauman discuss some measures which can be used to end cyberbullying in schools. They argue that determining the prevalence of cyberbullying is a crucial step towards ending cases of cyberbullying in schools. Some factors that determine cyberbullying prevalence are gender, age, and the relationship between bully and victim. Creating a cyberbullying awareness campaign is a major way through which cyberbullying in schools can be reduced.
The authors also suggest that cyberbullying prevails among teachers and students due to inadequate knowledge of how to handle cyberbullying incidences. They also identify introduction of technology classes as an effective way of reducing cyberbullying in schools. Educating students how to avoid cyberbullies and which online platforms to avoid could deter cyberbullying. Marylyn Campbell is a psychology professor who has carried out substantial research on cyberbullying. She is also a specialist in education. Sheri Bauman is a distinguished professor at the University of Arizona who has done a lot of credible research on cyberbullying. This source will be important to my research paper for it identifies way through which cyberbullying in schools can be reduced.

Hinduja and Patchin affirm that cyberbullying legislation has many implications in regards to school practices and policies. Schools have been identified as areas where cyberbullying is more rampant than any other place. As a result, the legislation gives schools the power to intervene in cyberbullying incidents outside the schools. However, this legislation applies only when cyberbullying affects the school environment. The implication for schools is that they cannot interfere with cases where the school is not affected. Also, the law fails to identify the procedure through which schools should identify and investigate cyberbullying incidents. Since my research paper will cover ways of reducing cyberbullying in schools, this source is important because it shows the implications schools face in the fight against cyberbullying.

Hinduja and Patchin explore ways of cultivating youth resilience to prevent victimization. Legislation and school policies alone cannot prevent bullying and cyberbully victimization. Among them, professional counseling is a key method of creating resilience. Victims may suffer a lot of stigma and damages on their psyche. Counselling helps them have back their esteem and confidence. Cultivating resilience is crucial to a youth’s education. Most young people encounter forms of cyberbullying which may affect their education. By being resilient, they ably handle cyberbullying, directly reducing cyberbullying incidents. The source shows how cultivating resilience among young people can prevent cyberbullying. Hinduja and Patchin are experienced professors with a vast knowledge on cyberbullying.
