I believe that situations dictate the speaking a person can do placing constraints to what a person can say and on how he or she can say it. An audience has certain expectations when they attend a presentation. It is the role of a speaker to know what the audience is expecting to hear what they want to hear and in a manner that they want to listen to it. The speaker must know what the audience expects from him/her to create a presentation that is relevant and impactful (Sedniev 56). A speaker must cover a topic that is related to an event or a meeting. For instance, in a wedding environment, a speaker needs to talk issues about marriage and family. It is difficult for a speaker to divert and talk about another topic since it would be confusing to the audience. A speaker is therefore forced to stick to what he/she was called upon to talk about and in a manner that is appropriate with a situation. In a meeting with stakeholders, a person could be expected to talk about issues affecting a business. It would not make sense for a speaker to talk about social or family issues.
I agree that a situation defines what a speaker talks about and how he/she delivers the message. However, playing the devil’s advocate, it, therefore, means that a speaker cannot think outside the topic he/she is presenting. This method of public speaking can sometimes be tedious as people can be excited to hear something different as it would be thought-provoking and exciting.

Wait! Discussion Post A paper is just an example!

A skilled public speaker has the capability of being flexible in their communication and still be relevant to an audience.
