The effects of bullying are among the most popular topics in the modern age. In fact, most people account the recent mass shooting of students in school and other popular avenues to bullying. The term refers to the physical and emotional torture of individuals through face-to-face confrontation or through cyberspace. Peer pressure and psychological manipulation are common for all ages. However, the effects of such harassment are highly prevalent among children in their formative years; those individuals below 18-20 years. In so doing, the impact can either be physical or psychological.
Unfortunately, the anonymity observed in cyberspace propagates the effects of bullying. Teenagers access the direct social site without the fear of any physical confrontation. There are comments and images sent to devalue a person or a group. Similarly, those present in school utter words or do things which can be degrading to others. The whole process becomes bullying when the deed is done consciously or maliciously. The emotional impact revolves around an increased case of depression and anxiety. The victims start having self-esteem issues and uncomfortable with normal activities. In fact, bullying results in fear of attending school or visiting malls and other social venues. Other signs of emotional damage can be altered patterns of sleeping and general disinterest in physical activities.
Alternatively, bullying may lead to hyperactivity in some children.

Some girls and boys become angry, moody, and aggressive contrary to their normal behavior. There are recent cases of a school shooting where a student exposes his frustrations after a period of long-suffering. There are other cases of students getting involved in sexual activities or taking drugs to numb their pain. Parents and guardians should push their children to join sports or other constructive hobbies; this strategy aids in releasing mental pressure and reduces the time spent on harmful activities. Regrettably, most of these individuals end up participating in destructive activities. In effect, there is an increased number of teenage pregnancies, overdose death, the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, and reduced academic performances.
Interesting enough, the relationship between bullying and psychological disorders is alarming. Among these mental illnesses is the predisposition to suicide. A number of teenagers committed suicide after living with depression and facing either physical harm or cyberbullying. In fact, the inability to connect on a social level reduced the chances of getting the help they needed. Some of the victims and bullies end up having an abusive relationship in future as adults. They have an unhealthy perspective of intimacy or companionship. Sadly, they subconsciously associate pain with a healthy relationship because that is what they find familiar. On the other hand, the victim seeks to regain power over their life by becoming the bully. In that way, they end up trying to control people and ruining their connections with friends, family members, and life partners.
Conclusively, physical and mental abuse affects the emotional stability of a child. Most people, both teenagers, and adults engage in the excessive consumption of alcohol and other unhealthy activities as a means of filling the emotional vacuum from trauma. Disappointingly, bullying remains among the profound contributor to depression and anxiety among children and young adult. Children start to skip school, engage in sexual activities, and take drugs. Others recoil and attempt to end their lives. Apart from these, there are the physical effects of being involved in fights which can lead to permanent physical disability.
