Evaluation Argument of Harmful Video Games
Video games are the most popular and enjoyed form of entertainment currently in our society by the teens and children. The production companies of these games have invested massively in research, innovation, and development of more sophisticated games that brings out the virtual reality into reality. The products have gained more audience with a significant number being children and teenagers and sometimes young adults. Although video games bring joy and entertainment among its active participants, they have adverse effects on the children and teens (Christopher N.p). This argument, therefore, will be evaluated through insights into the physical health effects caused by the constant play of the video games. Proponents claim that the video gaming has valuable benefits attributed to playing games that have real time strategies and first-time shooters. They argue that it increases brain concentration, sharpen reflexes and muscle coordination. Do the video games improve the physical health of children and teens through gaming?
The active participants experience effects that are harmful to their health. The possibility of losing sight is high as children and teenagers spend a lot of time glued to computers and TV screens. Lights emitted by television and computer screens are the primary cause of blurred vision among the teenagers. Moreover, active participation on video games interferes with the eating habits of the players.

They often consume junk foods that are quickly prepared and other fast foods that contribute to an unbalanced diet. Gamers, therefore, expose themselves to the risks of obesity since they rarely do physical exercises. These factors contribute to the abnormal growth and unhealthy development at a young age.
Moreover, the video games affect the mental health of the participants at a young age. Video games cause addiction and harmful behavior which is destructive as alcoholism or drug abuse. Currently, there have been reported cases of collapsing and death among the participants who spent long hours playing video games. Addiction to online video gaming corrupts one’s mind-affecting his schedule and other activities of high importance. Teenagers may neglect their studies as most of the reading time is spent playing video games. These factors contribute to harmful effects associated with video gaming among the rigorous gamers.
Research indicates that video games contribute to the aggressiveness of children behavior. Those who consistently play video games acquire violent and inappropriate behavior. Reports have shown children confronting teachers, guardians, and peers as a result of video games (Pellissier, N.p). Such psychological deviations implicate that video games are destructive in one’s health.
Moreover, Hughes in “Effect of Video Games on Child Development” indicates that video games create fantasies, decisiveness, and illusions among the gamers. Video Gamers will find difficulties in differentiating between reality and fantasy. Such conditions affect one’s social life as they may find difficulties in social adaptation. The models simulated in video games offer simplified and conditioned environments, friendships and rivalries that do not exist in real life. These experiences affect the player’s interaction capabilities in real life (Hughes, N.pag).
As a form of entertainment, video games are not appropriate for the young children and teenagers. This evaluation is based on various adverse effects on the children and adolescents who consistently play such games. The video games affect the physical health of the individuals with steady play causing loss of eyesight and obesity. Children acquire aggressive behavior, and their social adaptation is compromised. Also, more adverse effects in gaming include addiction and even death. All these factors add up to the harmful effects of video gaming among the participants.
