Feminist Manifesto: Thematic, Tonal, Voice Effects
Mina Loy’s Feminist Manifesto was written in 1914 in response to F.T Marinetti’s “Manifesto of Futurism.” In Feminist Manifesto, Mina Loy called for the destruction of all institutions that gave women the second place or make women unequal to men. Mina sought to put to an end the tendency of women identification of self-worth with sexuality; she sarcastically suggested ‘unconditional surgical destruction of virginity throughout the female population at puberty.
There are several themes that surfaced in Mina’s Feminist Manifesto: modernism, sexual, emotional liberty and self-ownership, love and self-respect (Schalm, 4). Through these themes, Mina sought to expose and depict the plight of women back then 1960s. As such, thematic core message and impact in her Feminist Manifesto were focused on and aimed at destroying all institutions that gave women the second place or make women unequal to men.
In Feminist Manifesto, Mina used the tone of sarcasm where she stated: “men and women are enemies, with the enmity of the exploited for the parasite, the parasite for the exploited.” A dramatic tone was also used to convince women that they deserve more, in which case she sought to make women understand that virginity should not be held on a pedestal, but they should instead take charge of their lives.
Additionally, a voice of bravery is heard in Mina’s Feminist Manifesto. Mina says “and if honestly, you desire to find your level without prejudice, be brave and deny at the outset that pathetic clap-trap that cry, the woman is the equal of man.

” Mina also pointed out that the feminist movement as at present instituted was inadequate. In this, she expressed a voice of inadequacy.
In conclusion, it is vivid that Mina Loy went beyond the feminist activism by going beyond equality demands. Through her feminist manifesto, she enhances for feminism and individualism calling for a revolution of gender relations. It is challenging how she channels new ways of thinking.
