Bacteria, parasitoids or infections are some of the reasons for congenital diseases and abnormalities. Congenital deformities are described as slight bending or distortion of shape in an organ (A to Z dictionary n.d., para.1). Generally, it includes a deficiency in amniotic fluid protecting a fetus from the tension of the endometrium and may be as a result of leakage or inability to provide enough liquid (The health line 2018, para.6). They can be transferred to the fetus or newborn in two ways: either by the embryonic membrane or birth passageway while delivering. Deformities are peculiarities of the human figure that occurs during embryogenesis and is split into two phases, blastogenic and organogenic forms.
Blastogenesis relates to the initial month of growth through which some fundamental body form and fields of DNA composition are organized, and the developmental future of every part of the unborn child is concluded. On the other hand, organogenesis is the following phase-in embryogenesis and continues further into the next month (Dadelszen 2009, para.5). This duration is the period in which organ maturation transpires and regularly takes place majorly in the first trimester, however, can stretch into the second trimester. Defects obtained during this time lead to be moderate than those of blastogenesis furthermore affect individual rather than various organs of the body – in this case, stomach deformity- and ordinarily, provide for the endurance of an organism in development.

Further, congenital deformations especially distortions occur sporadically as a particular problem of segregation in a family. They are created by special genetic coding, yet some can be due to some diseases or environmental agents such as – alcohol abuse- which harms both mother and fetal growth (Dadelszen 2009, para.6). In Tina’s case, it is improbable that her baby’s deformity is as a consequence of a virus contagion she contracted through the third trimester. This determination is because by the conclusion of the second trimester all of her baby’s organs and components are present and working.
