Hooks and introductions paragraph
When one wants to read a certain book, the person looks at the title of the book and from there decides whether to continue reading it or dump it. That is also the same case that is applied when it comes to writing an effective essay. However, here it is not all about the title but the hook of the essay that is usually used. The hook of an essay can be said to be the first or the two catchy sentences that are in the introduction section and serves as an attention-grabbing element (“Hooking the Reader”). The hook always has some various purposes in an introductory paragraph. The major purpose of a hook is to make the audience interested in reading the whole text. A hook can also be used to strike an important opinion from the beginning of the text. Thus it helps intrigue the reader as he is hoping for something special. Moreover, it is also used to release tension to the reader. It ensures that the tension is eased and the reader is set in the right mood and spirit. The introduction is that part of an essay that is used to inform the reader about what is being discussed in the essay. The purpose of an introduction is to lay out the context for one’s argument. Other than that, the introduction has the role of preparing the audience for the thesis of the essay. The importance of an introduction is to make the reader aware of the key details of the essay. Moreover, it is used to gain the audience’s attention when performing anything.
