Interior design: what is and where is applied

What is interior design?

For me, designing a space means shaping the experience that a person will have inside. An experience that will also affect your life and, of course, your mood. Interior design is a project that defines how a space will work, how it will look and how it will attract the senses. Must adapt to the needs, cultures and lifestyle of those who inhabit it.

The way in which we live a space has a huge effect on our creativity, happiness and, of course, in our well -being, so it is importantThe environment, positioning and color use must be taken into account so that the space works and feels complete.

In which interior design, decoration and architecture differ

Interior design is a specialized discipline. The designer must have completed professional training and learned to develop a project from a more global and conceptual point of view. They will need to know how to solve the details and the different elements, such as surfaces, systems and vertical and horizontal lighting.

Architecture includes interior design but focuses more on the aesthetics outside the building, taking care of the structure. It is considered an art because it paints the landscape of the city. Nature is beauty par excellence, but there is no virgin nature in cities. It has become less one focal point. That is why the way we design and build cities is what determines the beauty of an urban landscape.

Wait! Interior Design: What Is And Where Is Applied paper is just an example!

Decoration refers to furniture and ornaments.

Where we can see that the main interior design function is applied

It is important to design each habitable space and all its details with a purpose in mind (eat, exercise, relax). A space to eat is different from one to relax or to socialize. To do this, we work taking into account these four key elements:

  • Acoustics: acoustics must fit with the lifestyle and the type of activities carried out in space. A library is not the same as a hotel.
  • Lighting: establishes the space environment and helps it achieve its purpose.
  • Color: It influences the person who enters space and their emotions. Blue, green and purple are relaxing colors and invite reflection. Yellow, red and fuchsia are energetic and optimistic. Beige and white are linked to concentration, purity and simplicity. Pink transmits innocence, trust and optimism.
  • Environment and positioning: What is your vision for each area?

What forms can adopt interior design

The energy and attitude of a space denote the different styles of interior design. From more sober and quiet styles-like the Nordic, classic, Mid-Century, modern or minimalist-to more complex and stylized styles such as Art Deco, eclectic, kitsch and vintage.

In a world in which technological advances have given rise to the machines carrying out human work, it is important to awaken the creativity of people. It is what makes humans different and makes us better. That is why I always effort me to create interiors that impact, that do not leave anyone indifferent, spaces in which creativity flows.

In this sense, it is important to promote beauty and eradicate disorder. The harmonious, balanced spaces and in which there is order without being sterile create a positive mood and stimulate creativity. The choice of works of art that evoke emotions is also important for me.

What tools are needed for an interior design project

First, you need a client’s brief, in which he details his tastes and needs. Next, you must investigate a bit and find information and reference images that help you define the style, shapes and color palette. Once you have done that, you must communicate your proposal visually so that the client can understand their vision. Next to this, you will include samples of materials and tissues.

You should think about the distribution of the floor and the vertical distribution. We do not live in a 2D world. A rough floor design will help visualize the disposition of the different elements and then design the space up so that everything is harmonious. The volume must be compensated and a space should not be suited. The elements need to breathe and the energy needs to flow and the different pieces need to highlight. Programs like 3d Max help us see how space works in this regard.

What is my favorite interior design example

I don’t know if it’s my favorite but I love how César Manrique works with space. The way in which nature and furniture within space binds, raising its beauty without changing its essence. Other designers that I admire and who are referents are Kelly Wearstler, India Mahdavi, Chahan Minassian, Dimore Studio, Apparatus or Masquespace, all contemporaries.

Who can be interior designer

It is innate. There is an understanding of the proportions and aesthetics that are more developed in some people than in others. It is important to train and have a curious attitude for you to always learn. Experience, without a doubt, is what really drives you.

Where the interior design is directed

I think that spaces must be more sustainable and focus on human well -being. We are seeing a trend of well -being in modern culture and this will be important when it comes to designing. I also believe that interiors are increasingly stripped and minimalists. People these days are less interested in having many material possessions, which means we have fewer articles but have been chosen more carefully.
