Letter from Jamaica de Bolivar about Spanish -American Independence

Jamaica’s letter is a fundamental document that Simón Bolívar wrote on September 6, 1815 in Kingston, Jamaica as he says in: text and life: Introduction to Hispanic -American literature.

The letter was written with Bolívar’s thought. Bolívar was, apart from a military, a thinker, a great writer and in the letter of Jamaica raises the basis of constitutional political projects. In this letter Bolívar was exiled in Jamaica. Jamaica’s letter basically aims to separate from Spain and that there was no longer the possibility of establishing the political union or cultural union that Americans had with Spain. Jamaica’s letter raised the need to create a republican constitution in which they had to discard every monarchy but with the purpose of creating a continental unit. The need for without creating a continental unit of the Peoples America could not be defended from imperialist attacks.

In my view, this letter has the objective of the need for unity as the only guarantee of independence against extra -colonial domination. The letter explains that Americans are not simple children of the Spanish colones who arrived, but are children of Hispano America but also free.  I think this is totally reason because the Americans are the United Indians who share among themselves the cultures, blood and experiences of the two America, the conqueror and the conquered. Bolívar exposes to the world the situation that crossed America after fed up with colony, an oppression that remained in misery for the Americans, then the letter becomes a kind of denunciation to the world, of oppression, of theft that there wereIn America.

Wait! Letter From Jamaica De Bolivar About Spanish -American Independence paper is just an example!

However, with this Bolívar was based on the right of Americans to become independent and to be free. Simón Bolívar In this letter, the vision of what the future of America should bethat the world has a new balance that had been broken precisely because of that conquering vocation in Europe.

I refer to the conquering vocation of the Spaniards for the slavery of blacks and for the domination towards the indigenous people, then Bolívar in the letter raises a fundamental ideology and a transformation of a new world for the good of humanity. A very striking phrase in reading is, "we will find that America was not only deprived of its liberty, but also of active and dominant tyranny". Basically, Bolívar states that Europeans have been an abuse since the first years and that they had taken control with the Indians in which the desire to end this is urgent. Europeans did damage that Simón Bolívar chocolely hurt because he tries to reify America and discard the brands of European roads. Also, in this phrase Bolívar states that Europeans had taken a release that did not belong to them and rather declares Europeans as people who took others land.

Jamaica’s letter is the letter of the unity of the peoples of America to defend himself, to progress because Bolívar said that some of the weaknesses that the revolutionary movement had was precisely not to be united. Bolívar’s ideas in his letter was the power to remove all European ideas and renews the rights of indigenous people to remove the enslavement that Europeans had. Bolívar wrote this letter of the depth of his feelings and really wanted to form a continuous change for all those countries that had suffered for the Europeans. In text and life we see the purposes of Bolívar Jamaica’s letter says:

”In the letter of Jamaica Bolívar he speaks with pessimism of the future of Latin American countries. He complains about the treatment of the Spaniards, who not only abused indigenous populations but left a political vacuum in America by accustoming the settlers to passively obey and not to govern themselves ”.

Another see, we see how Mujica complains like Bolívar of the oppressions of Europeans and decisions to maintain a enslaved America. Jamaica’s letter addressed to a merchant knight named Henry Cullen testifies to the dramatic experience of the fight against Spanish authorities and feels the criteria to define the next future of our Latin American nations. This is what Spanish -American lives today thanks to this letter from Simón Bolívar, with the intention of having freedom in all our territories. It is a very difficult time for the Latin American continent. Bolívar was convinced that the Latin American continent could be joined through politics and culture. This is a clear and hopeful letter such for Bolívar and the Americans. "I wish more than another to see in America the greatest nation in the world, less for its extension and wealth than for their freedom and glory". Bolívar continues to believe in the image of the future of America in this phrase where he suffers the difficult life of Hispano -American. It reflects that the most important thing is to have independence or freedom instead of having fortunes. Getting rid of the powerful European ropes was more than anything a challenge fought.

In conclusion, in my view Jamaica’s letter is important because it was a founded vision on Hispanic America, also because this letter dared to look at all Latin American as a whole, because it dared and contributed this letter decidedly to form aOrganized theory of emancipation and a goal to fulfill in all Latin American. This letter for me appears as force, as an element, as a brand, as a firm and decisive idea in the idea of Bolívar. Also, I really agree with Simon when referring that there is no possibility of being free without being together. I think that if we are not united to battle against something that something I never know can succeed and get. Basically, if we are not together, the worst nightmare can be taken to fail and not being able to achieve a goal. Bolívar in Jamaica’s letter demonstrates a fairly solid knowledge of American societies and that allows him to advance which could be the evolution after the future and could also be the successful changes of the nations today that they are in formation.
