Introduction

The Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, projected by Frank Gehry and opened in October 1997, was built with the objective of activating the economy of the Basque Country, recovering the Ría del Nervión, where it was located, as a cultural center of the city of the city. The Guggenheim Bilbao marked a transition, both of architecture and museums, making evident a new resurgence of the museum as an architectural show. This contemporary work was raised since its origin as an art symbol that introduces a conflict for being rupture with respect to the rules and precepts established for modern architecture.

The headquarters of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao became in 1993 the materialization of these new experiments, leading to the development of a digital base architecture that has currently reached an evident level of exhaustion in the repetition of biomorphological forms resulting from digital automation A which have converged various contemporary architectural practices. In this sense, the Guggenheim the first global museum appears to us as the end of a long process in which the museum as an institution and as a building has been the subject of a wide cultural debate.

Wait! Museum: Potential Architecture Symbol paper is just an example!

It is a sculptural building, fragmented volumes- in some cases of regular forms and in others of unusual curved silhouettes covered by titanium-, volumes and perspectives, sinuous curves, light and color games, a combination of elements that make each Sala a unique space that enhances the exposed art. The museum required the use of the design program for the Catia Aeronautics, for the manipulation of the forms and the design of volumes and facades. The building is built with titanium plates, limestone and glass.
