Pandas are considered in China one of the most important symbols of their culture. So much so, that they have been part of the friendship gifts sent by China to other countries of the world. This animal, typical of the millenary country, has been found for years at the base of most conservation and rehabilitation projects of their natural habitat.

Panda bears are located, above all, in the high mountain regions that are understood between the provinces of Sichuan and Shaanxi. Pandas Conservation Center in Chengdu

Also known as Chengdu Panda Base, this Pandas Conservation Center is only 10 kilometers from the city. It was inaugurated in 1993 and is the best known and most visited from the whole country. The center is divided into several areas, all dedicated to the protection and conservation of the species. From areas prepared exclusively to carry out the reintroduction process to its natural habitat to a center dedicated to the reproduction of pandas.

In addition, we will also find a thematic museum to know more about pandas;It emphasizes its current situation to raise awareness among visitors. The latter has caused that the possibility of approaching animals has been restricted, both to touch them and to take photos.

Here we can see more than 50 pandas of different ages that will delight animals lovers. The whole center is full of natural bamboo, which is the basic food of this species and that will help us feel part of its habitat.

Dujiangyan Conservation Center

This other Panda Bears Conservation Center is located near the city of Chengdu, specifically 56 kilometers from the city. This, like the previous center, has several areas where more than 10 specimens live together. These are being careful and educated to be reintroduced in their natural habitat.

It also has a museum that acts as an interpretation center. In addition, it has the option of being part of the center volunteering for a day. With this option we can help the cleaning and feeding of the pandas and thus learn closest the customs of these beautiful animals.

This center was inaugurated a few years ago in 2014, and although they are very respectful of animals they do offer the opportunity to photograph themselves with the pandas closely.

Bifegxia giant panda base

Inaugurated in 2003, it is one of the largest conservation centers in the world. Here we can observe more than 20 specimens of giant panda. In this center there is also the possibility of exercising as a volunteer, so we recommend spending at least one day to enjoy the experience.

It is located in the district of Ya’an, about three hours by car from the capital of the province, Chengdu. A curious fact is that since its inauguration they have already managed to release more than 30 panda bears. These now live protected in the Wolong National Nature Reserve.

In the Beijing Zoo we can see several specimens of pandas in more than acceptable conditions. Caregivers mimate these animals and those of the rest of zoo, hence, in addition to being the largest China Zoo, it is also considered one of the best zoos in the world.
