Project Title: Effect of Child Abuse and Neglect on Classroom Behavior and Academic Performance Among Students in Dundee School. Education is a tool used to inculcate proper attitudes and values for mental, economic, and social development. Education is not only what is acquired from school but also encompasses the learning that takes place in a child’s life right from the moment they are born. Teaching forms a single element of education while learning forms the other (Jaffee & Gallop, 2010). In the school setting, academic performance and the behavior of the student in the classroom are some of the primary indicators of the student’s success. Factors such as child abuse and neglect have largely upset the educational process of the students in both primary and secondary schools.

What is the psychological wellbeing of the neglected and abused students in Dundee School?
The study will be limited to the effect of child abuse and neglect on academic performance and classroom behavior among students in Dundee School.
Research Design: A cross-sectional research design will be used in this study. The cross-sectional research will be perfect for giving out questionnaires and immediate collection of data. The research objective requires more detailed data on the association between child abuse and neglect and academic performance and classroom behavior. Thus, a quantitative descriptive research design helps statistically analyze the findings. Ultimately, the research aims at quantitatively measuring the topics of interest.
A questionnaire will be the most appropriate tool to use in data collection in this regard. Three sets of close-ended questionnaires will be drawn. Twenty-item questionnaire will be administered to the students to ensure the content is valid and reliable. Eighteen-item questionnaire will be administered to teachers to determine the causes and effects of child abuse and neglect on classroom behavior and academic performance. The parents or guardians will also be given a sixteen-item questionnaire to determine the different forms of abuse that the children are subjected to and the ways through which parents contribute to child abuse and neglect.
The study site will be at Dundee School. Targeted samples will be divided into three categories including the students, teachers, and parents of Dundee School. There will be the use of stratified random sampling to obtain the sample. Teachers, parents, and students will be randomly selected from Dundee School to ensure proper representation as well as avoid biases. The data acquired will be examined using SPSS to find descriptive statistics, including mean, frequency, mode, standard deviation, and median. SPSS is perfect because of its ability to quantify the five-point Likert scale.
