There is no doubt that the past few decades have witnessed drastic changes in the field of technology. The world has increasingly become dependent on this phenomenon due to the numerous benefits realized so far. In particular, the field of telecommunications has experienced major transformation to the extent that the world has increasingly been referred to as a global village. This is due to the unbeatable advantages derived from the application of technology in this field. The improved telecommunications today plays a crucial role in how we communicate. Mobile phones especially offer people with the opportunity to connect easily due to their numerous features. Mobile forms enable people to save time-based on communication features such as short messages, calls, and multimedia messages. The message features enable users to disseminate information to relevant groups (Gye 288). Also, mobile phones come handy in emergency situations. However, despite the numerous advantages that arise from the dependence on this technology mobile phones expose individuals to various dangers. For instance, mobile phones can be used to perpetrate crimes as well as expose people to health hazards. However, amidst all this, there has emerged a huge debate over the dependence on mobile phones. There has constantly been a concern over the implications of the dependence on this aspect of technology. It is worth noting that despite the few disadvantages that come with mobile phones, the dependence on them has enabled humans to bridge borders as well as interact easily.

Wait! Research proposal paper is just an example!

This essay has sought to highlight why the dependence on this type of technology continues to ease our life today. This paper will also give a few counterarguments over the dependence on this type of technology citing demerits of its dependency.
Mobile phones currently incorporate artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligent has become one of the most controversial topics in computer science since its inception in the 1950s. The most basic principle behind the concept has been the designing of computer systems and programs capable of mimicking human mental behavior and intelligence. The theory and practical aspect of developing robots began to gain root. For instance, the John Hopkins beast was a landmark trial for the application of the theory of robotics. But of note was the fact that these early robots did not apply the use of computers in their intelligence system despite the concept being almost the same. The robots exploited the use of symbolic reasoning in their working. These robots relied almost entirely on analog circuits which connected to make up a working intelligence and memory system which would mimic the very primitive functions of the human brain (Manoj Kumar 49). Furthering this concept, Walter Pitts and Warren McCulloch improved on the idea by exploring on how artificial electronic neurons would be designed to perform simple mental tasks .Their works on how robots functioned on the principle of logical thinking are what paved the way for the concept of neural network. The work of Walter and Warren inspired the invention of the neural machine referred to as the neural net machine. This machine (otherwise known as SNARC) was the invention of Marvin Minsky, an enthusiastic young scientist with unbound interests in the field. Minsky and his many concepts of artificial intelligence would later remain the key figure in this field for the following 5 decades.
The dependence on mobile phones has been beneficial to our lives based on the convenience that these devices continue to offer. Mobile phones enable us to coordinate our day to day activities while at the same time granting us with the flexibility to plan. For instance, through these gadgets, one can easily respond to business communications through emails, pay bills online and even shop at the convenience of their phone. Such advantages would easily be elusive without the dependency on this invention. The convenience derived from this technology may seek to explain the major strides that have been made in various sectors. For example, the use of mobile phones has totally transformed the way in which we shop. Today, you can easily shop at the comfort of your house and select for the items to be delivered to your doorstep. This is an aspect that was virtually impossible without mobile phones (den Hollander and Mars 194). The convenience of the mobile phones has constantly been described as the inventions main advantage. This is because all features of mobile phone use seek to satisfy the objective of being convenient. Whether we want to communicate shop or work online, we have to rely on mobile phones to ensure that we do this with relative ease. Communication today has been made tremendously simple with the presence of mobile phones. The contemporary world has been described as a global village due to the way in which we can conveniently communicate. It is possible to make a call to any part of the world at the dial of a button and a relatively low price. Such benefits would not be possible without dependency on mobile phones. Indeed, these devices are an inevitable part of human life due to their inevitable advantages. One just needs to imagine a life without mobile phones to realize the advantages of depending on this technology. While many people may argue that life was more productive in the past without mobile phones, such arguments are often made without paying attention to other dynamics involved. For instance, unlike the past, today’s world is competitive due to the increasing challenges and demands of life. As such, it would not be practical to compare the needs of the contemporary world with those of the past. It then follows that the dependence on mobile phones is an inevitable part of living and therefore there ought not to be a limitation whatsoever on how we choose to use these devices.
Mobile phones have been at the center of transforming work and the business environment. It is difficult to imagine the contemporary business world without this technology. Today, business executives and even salespersons heavily depend on this aspect of technology to carry out almost all functions at their workplaces. This is drawn from the fact that today’s business environment is so dependent on information to the extent that it is difficult to navigate it without having access to information. This access is conveniently provided by mobile phones. Salespersons and business executives can use mobile phones to seal deals across borders in a matter of seconds. This depends on the incredible convenience offered by these devices. Today’s world is shrinking drastically due to the bridging of the border gaps by technology. The business environment has strategically taken advantage of this realization to ensure that doing business is as easy as making a phone call. It would be difficult to separate business and mobile phones due to the way in which the two have become intimately involved today. In fact, even blue collar jobs have increasingly become dependent on the use of mobile phone technology at their workplaces. For instance, taxi workers today heavily depend on mobile phones to get in touch with their clients. This is evidenced by the increasing use of mobile phone technology in the booking and scheduling of taxi rides. Uber is one such company that purely relies on mobile phones to enable drivers and clients to connect at the click of a button on their mobile phone devices. This fact seeks to highlight the essentiality of mobile phones in the context of the workplace. Based on the facts described above, it would not be wise to limit this technology due to the inseparability of the work environment with mobile phone use.
Mobile phones have constantly been used in emergency situations. Studies have indicated that the use of mobile phones has enabled people to shorten the time needed to alert emergency services. For instance, in the event of an emergency situation such as a road accident, the most convenient way to alert emergency services would be through the use of mobile phones. It is difficult to imagine what other options someone would have given the same scenario without mobile phones. Mobile phones have enabled humans to save emergency situations due to the way in which they enable people to get access to emergency services. It would be tempting to think that other forms of communication such as landline phones would serve the same function. However, this notion is based on the flawed assumption that landline phones are available everywhere. Mobile phone technology has progressively more been integrated into the hospital systems. Through the use of mobile phone applications, doctors can keep track of the condition of their patients and detect emergency situations that require their intervention. One typical application has been in the context of asthma patients. Doctors are able to follow up on the severity of the disease in their patients and would know when to call in an ambulance. Mobile phones are the only devices that enable people to connect, whether in business, communication or emergency services.
However, the dependency on technology and especially mobile phones are not without its own share of challenges. In the context of communication and social interaction, psychologists have called for the limitation on the dependency of mobile phone devices due to the long-term effects that they have on our ability to forge social relationships. Scientists believe that mobile phones have caused people to become narcissist since they discourage physical, social interactions. Today, it is not uncommon to find everyone glued on their phones even in public places. In fact, even at home, most of the time, you will find everyone glued to their phones chatting with their friends in the virtual world rather than interacting in the physical context. There has been a concern that mobile phones have created robots in all of the use due to the way in which the dependence on them has derailed our social lives. Young people are the worst group affected by the dependency on mobile phones. Narcissistic tendencies are solely blamed on the dependence of this aspect of technology. It is postulated that heavily depending on mobile phone use changes the way we think. Scientists have constantly argued that mobile phones narrow our thinking due to the way in which they shrink our virtual environment. As such, depending on this type of technology makes us less open-minded about our immediate environment. For this reason, scientists have often raised concern about the unlimited application of these devices while claiming that this aspect of technology may have adverse consequences on our social interactions in future.
Mobile phones have also been implicated in the perpetration of crime due to their liberal rather than limited use. Mobile phones are among the most under-regulated aspects of technology. While mobile phones expose us to all forms of security risks, little has been done to limit their use. Cell phones are thought to inspire a form of ‘group behavior.’ Through this, a few people often feel the compulsion to send scam messages and making numerous fraud attempts. The misuse of these devices has been drawn from the fact that they have been quite under-regulated hence giving confidence to a few people to conduct suspicious activities. Also, it is widely believed today that cell phones expose the users to potential health hazards. Research has indicated that these devices give exposure to a form of radiation that arises from their way of signal transduction (Thomas 45). This radiation has long been believed to cause some forms of cancers. The prevalence of cancer and other related disease has been a drastic increase recently. The high prevalence has been blamed on the kinds of lifestyles we have chosen to adopt. Cell phones have been indicated as among the things that may increase the risk of such disease. For this reason, scholars have called for the limitation of the use of these devices due to the potential health risks that come with their ‘overuse.
In, conclusion, technology has become an integral part of our lives today. Most of the advantages have forced us to heavily depend on the various aspects of technology in running our day to day life activities. Mobile phones, in particular, are a necessary part of living due to the way in which they have redesigned our living environments. However, their widespread use has caused a debate on whether they need to be limited due to a number of demerits that come with their use. Mobile phones no doubt offer us with an incredible advantage in terms of how they provide us with convenience. Mobile phones have been exploited due to their advantage in the context of promoting business. Emergency services also depend on mobile phones to realize efficiency. However, despite all these advantages, mobile phone dependence has a number of notable demerits (Ammara 16). Key among them is the fact that unlimited cell phone usage has created social robots amongst us. This is due to the way in which mobile phones have changed our way of social interactions. Mobile phone dependence is definitely a controversial topic. However, it is easy to conclude that mobile phone dependence and use ought not to be limited due to the numerous advantages they offer us. It is worth noting that, no single aspect of life is without merits. It is therefore rational to state that despite the few disadvantages of mobile phone dependence, mobile phone use ought not to be limited, not unless we are ready to live a life without the numerous benefits of mobile phone use.
