Research Questions
In my final project, I would like to research the following question regarding cancer therapy. The first is whether the use of conventional inhibitors is more effective than chemotherapy that antagonizes the downstream cell signaling networks. The second question is on whether we can overcome tumor resistance to antineoplastic drugs by the activation of sensitivity factors of a tumor.
The above questions will guide effective research that will lead to determining the most effective and evidence-based treatments for various types of cancer. The multifactorial nature of cancer has made it difficult to establish the most effective cure especially in its advanced stages (Oberstein & Olive, 2013). Even in a rapidly advancing technology leading to the invention of modes of treatment, cancer remains to be among the greatest threat to public health. I would like to research on these topics since we are facing a global challenge of developing an effective cure for cancer. A carefully controlled and organized research has always led to significant findings that becomes the driving force for healthcare development.
The phenomena addressed in the two questions above call for adequate evaluations through research since they pose open questions that need to be addressed. There have been debates on the effectiveness of conventional inhibitors such as differentiation and proliferation over targeted chemotherapy that includes vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR), endothelial growth factor receptors (EGFR), and c-Met (Hu et al.

, 2013). Sadly, researchers are yet to give conclusive results regarding the two modes of cancer treatment. In the advanced stages of cancer, platinum-containing antineoplastic drugs become progressively ineffective in inhibiting tumor growth. To overcome this phenomenon, activating the sensitivity factors of cancerous cells using arsenic compounds can be used to enhance chemotherapy efficacy.
