Introduction
Children and young people are the most important group who requires special care. This group is vulnerable to abuse by institutions, individuals and even people who are entrusted to protect them. This requires a collective effort by some institutions which will provide checks and balance to each other. The following six institutions all work hand in hand to promote the interests of young children and adults whether vulnerable or not.
1. Social Services
Social services are critical in promoting the welfare of children. The professionals working in social services understand the psychology of children and young people. These professionals have had experience with children and young people who are victims of neglection, abuse and all sorts of ills meted out to children and young people. Social services protect children from harm and offer guidance on ways of staying and feeling safe. They also help children know the right people or organizations to report any case of violation of their rights (Harris, John, and Vicky White, 17). The work of social services supplements that of schools since they both have adequate capacity to offer protection. Schools sometimes are the source of abuse of children, and this is where both institutions clash as they try to exert authority over each other.
2. National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC)
The organization works with families and affected children in all UK service centers.

The organizations trust that it cannot be effective alone, hence it collaborates with the relevant professionals to protect children. NSPCC prioritizes collaboration with key stakeholders in searching for innovative solutions that ensure child safety is promoted. The organization utilizes the services of their experts who train other stakeholders in matters of child protection. Schools will greatly benefit from NSPCC’s roles since both teachers and children will be trained on how child protection is ensured. Schools also benefit from research information and other knowledge possessed by NSPCC.
3. Youth Service and Police
The youth service and police are important in protecting children and young people. Their services are more prominent since they apprehend perpetrators of child abuse. Their services are sought by all the relevant stakeholders in child protection. Without their services, it will become difficult to implement some of the policies and laws governing child protection. Schools can enlist the services of the police or youth service in case of serious violations of children and young people rights by either parents, guardians or anybody in the society and even in schools.
4. Health Services
Health services offer treatment services to abused or harmed children. These can be children or young people who have been assaulted and physically injured, mentally or socially tortured and sexually abused among other offenses. The treatment ranges from provision of drugs, corrective surgeries, guidance and counseling and other forms of therapy (Brannen, Julia, 37). Schools seek support from health services in cases where they cannot handle. These are cases to deal with drug abuse and mental problem as a result of abuse or even sexual abuse cases. Health services help schools provide the necessary therapy for children and young persons.
5. Libraries
Libraries are the most important institutions that help children and young people gain knowledge on all subjects. Librarians are knowledgeable about the behavior of children while studying in the library. They also know what knowledge is relevant for which category of children and young people. This means that the relationship between schools and Libraries needs to be more mutual as schools benefit a lot from libraries which make their work easier. Schools would send children and young people to libraries to seek knowledge on any topic that is being covered in school and is relevant to the child’s academic success.
6. Connexions
Connexions play an important role in shaping the lives of children and young people. The organization delivers a wide range of professional services to schools, employers, trainers, colleges and other institutions in Tyne and Wear areas. The organization plays an important role in building careers and promoting education effort by providing the relevant information to children and young people. The organization provides the required support and confidential advice to young people between the ages of 13-19. It also provides the same services to young adults of up to 25 years. Schools benefit from Connexions by way of accessing the relevant education and career information for school going children and young adults.
Conclusion
Schools benefit from other institutions which provide support in protecting children and also providing the necessary educational support. There are children who are more vulnerable than others and require special attention. Others have special needs, and they should also receive professional services to be on the same level with their colleagues who are growing up normally.
