Smoking
Smoking has detrimental effects on the people’s lives. The multimedia presentation targets young college and university students between the ages of 18 and 30 years. The aim of choosing this audience is because it is the most commonly exposed demographic group to drug and substance abuse issues. The project also uses this audience to ensure that the choices that the young adults make keep them away from all forms of smoking. The presentation presents smoking as a practice that leads to severe health problems. In essence, the project is persuasion to young people to keep off the habit of smoking. Through the presentation, I will present the some of the fatal health effects of smoking.
The media piece supports my viewpoint towards smoking by providing both pictorial and graphical evidence of the negative effects of smoking on health. The presentation shows statistics on the dangers related to smoking on an individual. The video presentation that forms part of the media piece exposes the audience to chronic illnesses that are linked to smoking, including Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) (Hynes, n.p.). The media piece also persuades the audience to refrain from smoking, or at least do it responsibly. Without proper consideration of the health effects of smoking, the audience would not be able to get a clear picture of what irresponsible smoking might lead to. Passive exposure to smoking also leads to severe effects, especially on children.

The practice of smoking, therefore, does affect not only the active smoker but also the passive smoker. Oral hygiene problems like stained teeth and poor oral odor may also interfere with the social and healthy life of a person. Therefore, the media piece strongly recommends that people abstain from all forms of smoking for a healthier society.
