Student Research Paper: Cloud Computing

1. In a paragraph, please summarize the student research paper you read.
Cloud computing is a new form of technology that lets an individual or many individuals access and store programs and data over the internet as compared to the computer’s hard drive, While there are several types of cloud computing services, the two primary types are SaaS ( Software-as-a-Service) and IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service). Saas involves the service provider hosting a company’s applications and other data on its storage system and servers while IaaS involves the service provider offering its servers and storage systems for the company to run its software in. Both IaaS and Saas have their different advantages and disadvantages that a company has to keep in mind before using either of them. Also, while cloud computing offers many benefits including flexibility in IT services delivery, it has some downfalls such as the various security concerns involved. Accordingly, a company should do a lot of research before delving into cloud computing.
2) What did you learn from reading the paper? List three items.
I learned what cloud computing means it’s various advantages and disadvantages.
I learned the difference between SaaS ( Software-as-a-Service) and IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) and the various merits and demerits involved with each of these cloud computing services.
I learned that although cloud computing has many benefits, it is not perfect; it has demerits such as security concerns. Accordingly, a company should consider these before engaging in cloud computing.

3) Did the paper encourage you to learn more about the research topic? Why or why not?
The paper convinced me to learn more about the research topic because I was able to appreciate the advantages that cloud computing has and its applicability. I am now convinced that every company in the world needs to know about cloud computing because the world is rapidly shifting towards the utilization of this technology.
4) What comments or recommendations would you make to the author for improving this paper (if any)?
Overall, the paper was good but lacked proper referencing. I believe that a paper of this magnitude and complexity required adequate references, at the least four references. There is no way the author wrote this paper without referring to a book, article, journal, etc.
5) On a scale of 1 to 5, how would you grade this paper?
I would grade it 4 – Good.
5 – Outstanding
4 – Good 3 – Adequate
2 – Needs work
1- No credit. Needs to be rewritten
6) Other comments? This can be on anything: Style, formatting, content, depth of discussion, topic focus, cohesiveness, etc.
Adequate transition phrases such as, ‘In a nutshell,’ and ‘On the other hand,’ among others were not adequately utilized. This interfered with the transition of paragraphs and the flow of the paper.
