The boy with the striped pajamas and ethics

Introduction

We will start talking about the general data of the movie. "The boy in the striped pajamas" is an American film of 2008 that dealt with World War II from the perspective of two children, Bruno and Shmuel (one German and another Jew), who become friends despite their differencesand build a beautiful relationship. Despite the aforementioned narrated, they die in a gas chamber, since the Nazi boy wanted to meet his friend to help him find his father. It is a sad and heartbreaking story that has undoubtedly marked many people and made them reflect on the atrocities committed in the Jewish holocaust of the middle of the last century.

Developing

The first of what we will talk about is about the values and antivalores that can be seen in the film, speaking first of the values we can highlight friendship, companionship, empathy, innocence, respect, love, among others; These manifest them mainly in the youngest characters, who, with their actions, demonstrate them to the viewer. The antivalores would be hate, pride, intolerance, abuse of power, violence, lack of appreciation and respect for human life, etc.;These disvaluities see them in most cases of the high German military commanders towards any Jewish person is already in a concentration camp or not. In my opinion, these antivalores reflect quite a lot we could see through the years in World War II, therefore, I think it is a positive point for the film.

Wait! The Boy With The Striped Pajamas And Ethics paper is just an example!

Now it is time to analyze each character individually taking into account the value they give to things and how they show blindness when performing their actions:

  • In the case of Bruno we can realize that it gives too much importance to relationships with other people, for example friendship, is a very empathic and assertive child who usually see things on one side too positive, to the point of not realizingin the dangers around him. The latter considers that it is caused by its innocence, which is its most predominant value.
  • Shmuel is a child who in his life has had to suffer very strong things what they have partially lose some infant essence. For him the most important thing is to feel good, to have a good time, since in his day to day he lives a hell, which makes him value more of the simple things, such as relating to Bruno and being with his father.
  • Another character with an interesting background to analyze is Elsa Bruno’s mother, who was never happy with the change of residence from Berlin to Auschwitz, although he did not say anything not to affect the relationship with her husband. She gives her more importance, is her children’s well -being, and this shows it when she asks to return with them to Berlin. His blindness lies mainly not to attend and put enough eye in his children. Too confident.
  • Greta (Bruno’s sister) is a character to whom we see a very marked evolution. At first what had more value for her were more childish things, such as the relationship with her friends and playing with her wrist.

Blindness in ethics I understand it as the fact of not seeing or ignoring certain things for different issues in each person, which at the same time gets too much involved with psychological themes. Just as we see it in the aforementioned characters.

I consider that the history environment influenced too much about the way of thinking and acting of the characters. Since antivalores such as intolerance and hatred were the order of the day in Nazi Germany.

conclusion

In conclusion this story makes us realize how life was some years ago and in certain circumstances, which is very interesting. In addition, it makes us understand that the environment influences too much about the way of thinking and acting of the characters.
