The American education laws encourage staffs to tolerate pregnant students (ACLU n.p). The same rules discourage discrimination of such learners. However, pregnant students may require special treatment that may entail separation from others. It is usually tricky for teachers to determine the best situations or reasons to separate pregnant students. Some actions of separating such student may translate into the abuse of the rights of the individual persons. Education laws also prohibit the restriction of pregnant students from physical activities. Nonetheless, teachers may perceive specific actions as bearing risks for the learners and may opt to retrain them (ACLU n.p). Such steps may be coherent with duties of teachers to observe health and safety of learners but may turn out as a breach of rights of the affected learners. The particular students receiving such protections may perceive the move as a breach of individual rights and report staff to the school administration or education authorities.
The Americans with Disability Act (ADA) directs that staff promote the safety of learners with disability through proper treatment and ensuring appropriate education for the affected students (ACLU n.p). The same law empowers students and families to complain or sue staffs who place disabled learners in classes or education system they feel inappropriate.
