Nursing burnout has a significant effect on the quality of service that nurses offer to their patients. This burnout occurs due to the stress in their work environments, long shifts and putting others first. To maintain their nursing zeal nurses utilizes the preventive strategies and measure that enable them to protect and preserve their passion (Aiken et al., 288).
Lateral violence
Lateral violence is the abuse that occurs between workers. This involves strong verbal abuse in the workplace. The study has shown that 53% of the nurses have experienced lateral violence at one point in their career (Aiken et al., 288). This bullying affects the quality of patient care .it also affects the satisfaction at the workplace and increases the chances of staff turnover. (Aiken et al., 289).
Continuing education
Continuing education opportunities are taken advantage of by nurses who are engaged in their professional development. The main intention of continuing education is to increase knowledge and skills in the nursing workforce. Continuing education comes in numerous forms. Some nurses go back to school with the intention of advancing their degree and those with master’s degree in nursing capitalizes on education, information, administration among other specifications. This education increases the nurse’s marketability by helping them secure higher paid positions and salary increase. This education aims at advancing the health care quality (Aiken et al., 290).

Nursing health care is very crucial in patient outcome. Patients tend to be more attached to their nurses. Nurses go through challenges like burnout and lateral violence which affects the quality of the services rendered. Continuing education programs enable nurses to better their health skills and knowledge to improve healthcare.
