The hidden culture of rape

Between 2010 and 2017, 24% of victims of gender violence corresponded to foreign women, being 50% of complaints for ill -treatment established by them. Unfortunately these data are not entirely real, since it is estimated that of every 4 women suffering from ill -treatment only denounces 1. Many decide to suffer in silence and not take the step to denounce, because the papers that keep them legal in Spain depend on their partners, or simply because they do not have the regulatory documentation. Most of the time without sufficient income to pay a lawyer who guides him in the case, without facilities to understand and speak the language and with insecurity in the administration. The saddest thing is to know that for some women, ill -treatment, rapes and even mutations are not considered as crimes.

In this essay, the testimonies of two women related to each other are reported, for being immigrants and suffering ill -treatment in Spain.

Cristina, one of the women who dares to tell her story, tells how she arrived in Spain has been subjected to her partners;her first, her older son’s father, without compassion or any modestIt gave him. Her second husband, with whom she has recently had a child, had her "chained" both psychologically and economically demanding that he deliver each of the salaries he received, and that he consulted each of the expenses that went torealize. She highlights that in both cases, she has felt alone, without family, without any help to deal with these situations, but that despite her loneliness she has armed value to end these calvaries, denounced and starting a newHappy, and free life.

Wait! The Hidden Culture Of Rape paper is just an example!

Mary Owens, a 39 -year -old Nigeriana, has become an example for all, tells her story in order to help women who are trapped in the sphere of gender violence. In 2001, along with his first partner he decided. At the same time, they decide to move to Spain, they lived drowned in misery, then they could only climb that Patera Mary and his baby. The following year he could do his partner, who failed to survive. He thought that his life could not go worse, but yes, he was wrong, true hell began when he met his next partners, the first one, with whom he had 2 children hit both his wife and his eldest son. Mary reports that she couldn’t stand to see how she mistreated her son. After assigning one day with his newborn baby on his back, he managed to take a step forward and report him. The second man who made his life a punishment, was an Italian from which I can also flee. I finally made the decision to get away from every man who could hurt him and dedicate himself to helping women with the same situation as her. Currently, he is one step away from becoming a change agent, a group of women fighting gender violence.

Content of the subject referred to by the localized documentation

According to Kottak C (2002), cultures are traditions and customs, transmitted through learning, which govern the beliefs and behavior of people exposed to them ”. Relationly of this concept to gender violence, it can be understood that for some cultures, sexist violence is not an act of crime or abuse but a tradition that has been practicing for a long time, most cases because of patriarchy. This causes women not to "shout" help, do not denounce, give more power to men and ultimately never put an end to violence. In other cases given in Spain, immigrant women are aware that they are suffering abuse but for fear of being imprisoned, they do not face the aggressor by denouncing it. Then, on its arrival, an intercultural moment occurs, where both cultures are related to their periphery, beliefs and ideals are not shared.

In relation to the Harris picture (1990), of the components of a culture: in superstructure as mentioned above are ideals and beliefs contrary to ours. This can be reflected in the African culture above with the case of Mary, in which it is considered that "husbands are treasures, gifts and that without them any woman is nothing".

As for the role taken by nursing when treating immigrant women, it is essential in the detection of gender violence victims. Few are the cases in which the hospital attends for help. Most of the time they go for a check or pain that they do not give gravity. Fortunately, thanks to your visit you can save a woman from her partner’s hands.

Personal opinion

So far this year, in Spain, 52 women have been killed by sexist violence, 42% corresponding to foreign women of which few had dared to report. It is certainly a situation that must be stopped, with the help of each and every one of us. Many of the cases that occur, arise at the hands of their partners but there are many others that are linked to mafias, which bring these women deceived that they will live a better life and in the end they end up prostituting them. This occurs due to lack of information in underdeveloped countries, then in my view it is necessary.
