Abstract
The article The Wilderness and its Place in Forest Recreational Policy was written 1921 by Aldo Leopold. He was an individual who had great concern about the environment and how it should be set to ensure that it meets the needs of all the members of the society. He argued that it is important to conserve and renovate the environment so that it can be favorable and beautiful for the public. Additionally, he acknowledged that the national forest policies and its efforts to make introduce national forest (Leopold 718). However, he felt that some wildernesses should be left as they are to ensure that the members of the public use them in their natural conditions. Although some people may believe that planting trees in the wilderness is conservation, some minority groups may need the areas for recreation. Thus, the author suggests that some part of the wilderness should be left as it is to ensure that it caters for the needs of all members of public especially those interested in recreational activities.
The author recommended that the wilderness should not be covered with natural forests due to various reasons. Firstly, he stated that some recreational hunting, horse riding, and also riding (Leopold 720). These activities may not be possible at the residential areas and also they cannot be practiced in areas where the national forest has been introduced. Secondly, the author argues that the wilderness is an enjoyable place to have road trips with all natural features.
