Understanding Life
In such a confusing, ambiguous society sometimes one cannot really know what life is all about due to its unfair nature. It sometimes reaches a point where some people will feel like they are unwanted in the world especially if life seems too difficult to fathom. As some individuals see the sun is setting, somewhere on the globe some folks can be seeing it rising. The beauty and philosophy of one’s life are that it is possible to change it all and that depends on what someone declares what they want and how they want it. According to “The Working Poor: Invisible in America by David K. Shipler” some Americans are absolutely described as low-wage earners and life stands so difficult on their way (Shipler, 7). However, there is need to change the order of a poor life among Americans who are working but stay destitute. The working poor creates an irony in life, since a working class are supposed to live comfortably and rid of poverty in their midst but what really shocks is that the working are staying poor.
SECTION 1
The problematic of the good life
The biggest problem in this movie is life challenges among the poor working Americans. Folks are working but still they face numerous challenges in their lives. For example, the poor working individuals both in the private and public institutions go through numerous difficulties. According to Shipler Money and its Opposite, the working poor in the society are expected to pay taxes refund and again they face the brunt of abuse of office in both private and public institutions (Andress et al, 9).

Also, diseases, ignorance, poor relationships and language barrier are the problems people faced in U.S America. In this context life appears to be good to some folks and to be so terrible to some folks and that is how the traditional and modern society is today. The poor are susceptible to abuse. Despite the paltry amount of money they earn still challenges pursue them. Shipler therefore, developed an interest to dig into the spending habit of the working poor, the U.S consumerist culture as well as how the presence of money everywhere remains a factor that the poor base their lives on. However, the poor working class do find themselves in a dilemma once they earn their little income. The human wants are so many but again, the challenge is that there is no adequate money to allow the poor working individuals to live comfortably by accessing good housing, quality education and health care. Shockingly, the institutions take poverty as an excuse to abuse the poor. All in all that is how life appears problematic.
Moreover, the basis of injustice is ignorance and helplessness among the poor working Americans. The employers or high class individuals take the advantage of the ignorance and helplessness among the poor to satisfy their own needs. Ignorance is what is causing humongous disparities today in the society. The poorly rarely take a legal action against their employers who then exploit them callously.
Finally, people will never be fair to each other. This is because some people want to exploit others so as to enrich themselves. This is really hard truth to contemplate. It sets a dilemma in life. The wealthy shall always exploit the poor in the society to maintain their high social status and perhaps that is why people shall be unfair to each other.
SECTION 2
A good individual has to consider their relationship with the community. The community defines most aspects of life that a good individual ought to consider (Andress et al, 9). A good individual has to be very keen on how they relate with their community so as to maintain a good name. A good individual relates with the community in the following ways:
Enhancing good relationship with the poor both in private and public institutions (Fowler, 9). A good individual is that individual who ensures that the rights of the poor are respected contrary to the abuse of the poor faced in “The working poor”.
Through fighting poverty- the good individuals try their best to help the community overcome the deeply rooted poverty cycles in their midst. According to Shipler, folks are going to school to acquire knowledge and skills so that they can fight poverty, ignorance and any other challenge that the poor face. Good individuals, therefore, relate to the community through eliminating poverty.
However, a good community owes its citizens, equal opportunities, labor rights, good living conditions, equal wealth distribution, good health and protection of human rights both in the private and public sectors.
Besides that, people can overcome poverty, ignorance, helplessness only if they empower their mind. According to Shipler “DREAMS” aspirations are in an excellent position to help the poor Americans overcome their life challenges. For example, the struggle of the three women in “WORK DOESN’T WORK” is important since it gives the poor the oomph to stamp out poverty (Hepworth and Dean, 25) in their lives. The poor in the society have to aspire to be better individuals through understanding the core responsibility in transforming their own lives. Change begins with “you”. A person who is poor has to start thinking of how they can change their situations before other good Samaritans intervene to better their lives. Personal responsibility is, therefore, the key in achieving transformation among the working poor in the United States.
I always see a good life as something that the whole society can achieve if equity and human rights are respected at all times. Humanity is celebratory only if there is a good life for all the people in the society.
SECTION 3
The theoretical perspectives in this case scenario are to draw the connections between the disparate concepts in the society to help people understand the world around us (Hepworth and Dean, 25) However, individuals are unique in their own way and that greatly defines their philosophy of life and also their worldviews. Nonetheless, people in the society find themselves entangled in serious problems whereas some folks find all the reasons to smile and enjoy life since they believe that they are the only blessed ones.
“The Working Poor: Invisible in America by David K. Shipler” is trying to divulge the challenges the poor in the society face as they regret but what stands out is that every challenge in life has an end.
Poverty which is a challenge in the society can be eliminated or reduced if people hold onto dreams that give inspirations and aspirations that can ultimately bring a positive change. Good life will always be true and achievable when the whole society accepts the disparities that exist between the poor and the wealth. However, the two distinct groups ought to come out and address the inequalities that exist between them. It is inhumane to mistreat other individuals in the community. People ought to play their roles responsibly to eliminate diseases, poverty, poor relationships and unequal opportunities to achieve a good life. (Guignon,15)
The three women in the “DREAMS” indicates people should continue with their struggles to overcome poverty and also the employer ought to offer them a good pay to help the society fight poverty and eliminate diseases and improve their standards of living.
SECTION 5
In conclusion, understanding life gives the society need for equality. However, challenges in life are numerous but the whole society ought to embrace humanity so that every individual in the society can have a reason to smile when the society is free of human rights abuse, diseases, unequal opportunities and poverty.
