Violence at work at women

Introduction

I have always known that I wanted to perform a work activity in which I could provide help to women at risk of social exclusion, victims of gender violence and many other problems. That is why I have opted for social work with women, but what is it about? How did this work arise? Why? What kind of aid does social workers provide? What are the problems we face?

To know when these first aids arose we have to go back to the 90s, at which time the first women’s help programs begin to be launched in Spain. With this the first as was the right to vote and the action of women in political life. The first great feminist figures such as Clara Campoamor also arise.

Developing

To better understand that work performs and that aids are provided today, we will talk about the Women Opañel association which has a wide group of workers/is social. This is responsible for providing services to women who allow them the free development of their personality, with employment training programs, offer protected floors for immigrant women.

When intervening in the social integration of these women, associations have psychologists, lawyers and within this network of professionals, we find social workers, who are responsible for joining each of the disciplines represented In the team in order to form a global intervention model, which allows to design a personalized, individual work, depending on each case to achieve the programmed objectives in the most effective way.

Wait! Violence At Work At Women paper is just an example!

The Social Workers team performs various activities and functions within this type of associations, first of all, when the woman goes to ask for help, a personal interview is carried out to collect all types of information as possible to launch the integration processand an individualized help plan. This process is the most complicated, since many of them fear telling that they suffer from ill -treatment for possible reprisals or lack the ability to speak and express themselves, especially immigrant women, since they have another culture and do not usually master the language.

For example, in the field of gender violence, the action of social services is a priority, in these cases it is usually the woman who carries out the demand for attention and with whom she works, since in these cases it costs a lot to beThe man who demands help. The objective of these associations is to work in order to eliminate the barriers to which women face day by day, both in the workplace, in the inequality of the distribution of responsibilities, since for women it is more difficult to accessIn great positions the so -called "glass roof", rapes, sexual abuse, gender violence.

But how could we get here? Today, we face big problems not only in Spain but also in the rest of the world such as in the case of Iran, women activists are arrested for asking gender equality, and in Afghanistan they are killed by promoting the education ofGirls and are also subject to sexual violence. The fight for equality must continue, if we talk about figures in 2001, 2200 women were killed in Guatemala, but very few cases were even investigated.

All these facts lead us to a reflection on all the violence that is exercised over women, and when we refer to violence we also refer to discrimination, inequality of opportunities. To all the events that happen day by day and that translate into circumstances supposedly known by all.

conclusion

The lower participation of women in social and political life and therefore the lower decision -making capacity, the high unemployment rate, salary inequality are situations that require a positive and effective action to change the perspective of our society, and achievechange. Moreover, without going any further, within the area of social work we can see that there are a greater number of women, so we must keep in mind this fact so as not to fall into stereotypes, this is a job for both men and women.

Finally, we must emphasize that the ability to adapt to the new problems that society presents to us is a great characteristic of social work. They all have a fundamental role in providing help to all these women, although change and stop "normalizing" certain macho attitudes that we live depends on a large majority of society. Given all these problems, social work should not be kept out of the margin, but to occupy a space that carries out preventive actions and not simply reduce the consequences that these attitudes and actions generate in society.
