The image contains a wrecking ball tied around a human being who is trying to move with difficulties. It represents the weighing down of a person using a wrecking ball as a symbol. A wrecking ball is usually a heavy metal which remains tied on a crane used for demolishing buildings no longer needed when swung by the crane. Therefore, it symbolizes heaviness and difficulties to the human being. The human being also represents the society at large. The social phenomenon depicted in the image is poverty. Poverty is seen to weigh an individual down which is the primary communication.
Poverty remains to be a severe social problem that causes struggles and hardship to both individuals and society at large. (Rice University 421) Describes that people can stay forced into poverty when they lose their jobs and have difficulties in finding other ones. Relative poverty is when one is unable to live in the average living conditions whereas absolute poverty is the incapability to sustain basic needs. Unemployment remains the most cause of poverty described as the rate at which people are searching for work fail to get one.
Developed countries, for instance, the united states, safeguard their citizens from complete poverty by providing them with food aid, welfare and unemployment insurance for their medical covers (Rice University 423). They also administer free training in different fields so that they can get jobs. The aged are the most strained by poverty since they face ageism.
