Westward Expansion
The Westward Expansion was inevitable considering the population size and young nation’s economic growth. Much of the justifications relied on moral doctrines and religion of righteousness, superiority, and the ‘manifest destiny.’ The Westward Expansion was an appealing idea and thought to manifest among the early Americans. There was a presence of land that could be acquired at low prices.
Besides, the constrictions of the European civilization had a lot of low-paid jobs and individuals stuck in factories. For instance, it was impossible to improve one’s life for the working class, a situation that was possible in the ‘new world.’ Gold rush, mining opportunities, and silver made a lot of attraction to several individuals (Mountjoy 5). The rush for the valuable minerals led to the development of small centers. The expansion of the railroad gave more comfortable access to the supplies that made the life in the West accommodating.
Additionally, the West provided a great opportunity to new beginnings due to the severe economic opportunity for individuals that seek to develop the positive thoughts of the rest. The Westward Expansion was righteous and glorious to the Americans. Farmers were among the first percentage number of individuals that moved to the West due to congestion. Farmers required a small amount of fee to acquire land for cultivation. With an increasing population to feed, ranchers got some dollars ahead of their cattle hence getting richer.

Moreover, the government encouraged individuals to move to the West. For example, the government passed the Homestead Act which enabled families to have 160 acres for free to live within five years. It supported explorers to move to new areas to learn more about the new regions. Much of the information gathered made it easier for other individuals travel West.
