A silent cancer in women

The ovaries are organs that belong to the female reproductive system. Its function is to produce hormones and ovules. Its shape and size are very similar to an almond.

Ovary cancer is a tumor that originates in the female reproductive system, this cancer is the most common in causing deaths of the female reproductive system and produces an evil abnormality in epithelial cells, these are what cells that cover the ovaries. Apart from epithelial tumors, there are two more ovary tumors that are: germinals (gamete formation) and stromal, (support fabrics surrounding the organs) but these represent only 12% of total. Ovary cancer is very difficult to detect, symptoms appear when women show very advanced cancer and make it difficult to recover more.

Until now there have been no exact causes of why ovarian cancer occurs, but factors that increase the risk of women from presenting symptoms of ovarian cancer. As we can observe:

  • In age: the tumor is normally displayed at the age of 40 or after 50 years.
  • Hormonal disorder: occurs when the tumor appears at an early age with the appearance of the first menstruation. Also for the absence of pregnancies and delay of the end of menstruation, menopause.
  • Genetics: It occurs with a percentage of 5% due to alterations of inheritance genes.
  • Environmental factors: Smog pollution, aerosols.
  • Alcohol consumption, drugs.

 

Every year in Italy this cancer affects approximately 4,000 women.

In conclusion, we can say that we have to keep alert with ovar cancer, it is importantmenopause;It should be noted that ovar cancer is a silent disease that without realizing it, for a small carelessness we can be on the verge of death.
