Evidence that Supports Alexander Hamilton’s Position
America was in facing tough economic times and political instability in the first few years after its independence and Revolutionary War. The Revolution had depleted America’s resources. Financial stability becomes an urgent need to the Americans. Each state was on its own and with their ways of doing things like making economic decisions. The only thing which could bring them together was the weak Confederation Articles which had been ratified in 1782 (Lindert & Williamson, 2013). Despite the articles holding the states together weakly, they did not outline a way to elect executives and judicial which could be used to set laws governing the sates. There was no power there for, to control the economy like taxing. The central government needed money to pay its debts but could not get since it had no authority to collect the tax. The only thing which the Congress could do was to deal with foreign affairs. America, therefore, needed a stronger government than the state to bring the sates together to make the economy.
The states at the time of the Revolutionary War were being controlled by poor people who were only concerned by their daily lives based on simple decisions. The sates could not make hard critical choices to build the economy (Lindert & Williamson, 2013). They had not established any infrastructure like roads. The manufacturing companies did not have protection since the sates were not strong enough to support security.

The Indians were exploiting the farmers, but still, the state had no power to protect them. The sates had quarrels, but there was no judicial or congress structure to solve their affairs. The poor people in the state government could not take actions which would hurt them more like building infrastructure. There was, therefore, a need for the elite members to control the states since they could make excellent but tough economic decisions to help America solve is the problem.
