Applied Ethics in Problem Solving
The philosophical, ethical approach has different sections that include the consequentialism, regularianism, and deontology. Consequentialism refers to when an individual has to choose between the right and the wrong thing while considering the results that would follow (Takala, Herissone-Kelly & Holm, 2009). As a public servant, one should select actions that are morally upright and should be in line with the available rules to achieve the required output or results. For instance, an individual must take wise decisions so that majority benefit from the choice. The choices made must have benefits that outweigh the possible risks.
Regarding the ethical approach of deontology, a public worker must make decisions while abiding by the required rules and regulations (Takala, Herissone-Kelly & Holm, 2009). Furthermore, the actions taken are to be in the worker’s line of duty. Equally important is that a public servant should treat others by following the standard measures that are available. They should never conflict with the responsibilities that one has to fulfill otherwise, considering whether an action is right before undertaking it is very necessary.
On the other hand, regularianism refers to determining if an act is morally right or wrong. For instance, if an action taken is against the set regulations, then it means that it is not ethically right. However, a decision made that follows the available rules is usually considered morally upright.

A public servant should, therefore, make a wise decision based on its morality and the abidance by the possible law.
It is possible for a public servant to consider the practice of the ethical approaches when deciding consistently. When choosing a specific action, a servant should know that they are like leaders and every path taken has an impact on the followers and the public in general. It is, therefore, crucial to consider all the three parts of the ethical approaches when deciding on anything. The decision should abide by the regulations and should benefit a large population and be morally upright.
