Assistive technology refers to any product system, which is utilized with objectives of increasing, improving, as well as maintaining functional abilities of a child. The ideas for success s of AT are as highlighted below. The assistive technology device needs to be evaluated to fit a particular child with the disability. The assistive technology device needs to be well-maintained to serve its purpose well. Subsequently, an excellent assistive technology device must be able to coordinate and incorporate other therapies for better services to a disabled child. For the disabled person to fully benefit from the assistive technology, one needs to be well trained. Hence, for assistive technology to efficiently work, schools must provide technical training not only to teachers but also to children and society at large. The common assistive technology devices that are commonly deployed in the current world are mobility devices. There is legislation Act enacted by the federal government that protects and promotes the AT among people with disability in America.

First, the assistive technology device needs to be evaluated. Secondly, the assistive technology device needs to be adaptive, fitting, as well as well-maintained to serve its purpose well. Subsequently, an excellent assistive technology device must be able to coordinate and incorporate other therapies for better services to a disabled child (Dell, Newton, & Petroff, 2008). Similarly, for the disabled child to fully benefit from the assistive technology, one needs to be well trained. Thus, for assistive technology to effectively work in the current society, schools must provide technical training not only to teachers but also to children and families.
On another hand, various devices can be categorized as assistive technology. Among the common assistive technology devices that are commonly deployed in the current world are mobility devices. For instance, the mobility devices used as assistive technology includes walkers as well as wheelchairs. Besides, there are other hardware as well as software devices that are used to help children with disabilities to access information technologies. Furthermore, in the American society, there is legislation that supports the assistive technology. For example, the federal government provides legislation on information and electronic technology access according to Rehabilitation Act if 1999 section 508 (PowerPoint, 2018). Moreover, the legislation Act on the assistive technology provides financial assistance to States with objectives of helping people with disabilities regardless of age as far as technology related matters are concerned. Nevertheless, assistive technology has some challenges. For example, AT only targets small population.
