Bahadur Coolie Woman
Bahadur is a biography written by the author about his great grandmother. It looks more into the labor system previously referred to as the indentured system. This was more of a system that was at the time practiced within the Greek community (Bahadur 60-62). The society that is involved is mainly made up of impoverished people, and the main question is regarding discrimination in that society. At this point, Bahadur was known mostly for archival and a task of publishing some records; they were also well known for some folk sources already. This is a story that aims at explaining the issue of the departure and the treatment of the majority of the Indian women within the Caribbean region previously. The conditions that were set at this point were not all good as the focus was mostly on the punishment of women even when they were not the ones who were at fault.
The author states that in this society, women were subject to unwarranted punishment by their bosses. It was merely just one society that discriminated women a lot and treated them as though they were just some piece of luggage. This is the one society that at the time was well known for its mistreatment of women. Women were never offered a chance to even speak before people as they were just to be seen, but then their voices would never be offered an ear. They were considered to be subjects who had no voice completely. The Indian women in this period were feeling the pinch because even the society itself was never ready to even think about giving them some sense of equality in the first place (Bahadur 59).

The injury was mostly inflicted on women; they were sent out to do tedious jobs. In some cases, some of them were even subjected to corporal punishment. They were caned when they made mistakes rather than being corrected politely. This barbaric system was purely accorded to women only (Bahadur 62-63). No form of fairness was actually offered to the women and more concentration was on making profits by these businesses rather than maintaining sanity. Despite women complaining, the government in place could not buy any of their complaints.
This is the kind of society that people have changed from in the modern day. People are shifting and that issues of discrimination have taken the leading position in the daily life debates. Women are even going ahead to take leadership positions in most societies. People are indeed even thinking better about general areas that the society would like to accord to female gender and also try and remove the possibility of women being discriminated. When we compare the kind of life that women have been granted in this society, it is incredible to think about it because there is immense change and more so of positive nature. Women in this society are not just a mere tool as they were considered in the book but rather a more significant asset and also a complementary human to the existence of the general public already. At the time, it did not even matter whether a woman was suitable to work in the cane fields because it was already a compulsory idea during such time.
