One of the great challenges, which we still have pending, is to eradicate the appearance of cases of bullying. What is bullying and who are the agents involved? Part of the classmates themselves.

Developing

If we have to think about the agents involved, the first thing that comes to mind is the figure of the victim and the aggressor. That is, from the affected person and who tries to make life impossible based on mockery, insults and humiliations. But what happens to colleagues who act as spectators? Many times we forget that witnesses of bullying have a fundamental role in the perpetuation or eradication of violent situations and behaviors. Since they themselves are the direct pubic of the aggressions. Keep in mind that according to the attitude of these children the stalker will feel stimulated or inhibited.

They remain outside the facts and observe without intervening, being, with their silence, complicit of the aggressor. They assume a passive attitude, since they are afraid of becoming victims of the stalker. They reject the stalker’s actions: intervening directly, warning an adult of what happened or comforting the victim. Children who witness bullying also suffer from consequences due to the continuous acts of violence that presence.

This makes them recipients of negative learning and habits. Thus, they can reach: respect aggressive behavior. Internalize criminal and antisocial behaviors. Desensitize before the suffering of others. Lose empathy for the victim. Have guilty feelings. Assume and feel the feeling of defenselessness of the victim. Social contagion This phenomenon consists in adopting the behavior of the dominant model, as a way of imposing and seeking a personal status. For this reason, some witnesses of bullying come to replicate the behaviors they observe in the aggressor. To go unnoticed. Therefore you have to be attentive to the behavior changes that children can have, both at school and at home.
