Ethics in Biosciences
From this article, I have learned that like in different research fields, ethics guides bioscience research. The research involving data and animals is critical in bioscience. As a result, there are ethical guidelines that researchers in this field must consider to protect the life of animals and the authenticity of the data used. Like in different areas, the bioscience field has data generators and data users. From the article, the data generators are the researchers who gather data from the area and avail them in a form can be understood by the data users. The data uses can be any person who uses these data to conclude the specific topic. According to the article, all these individuals are tied by the ethical guideline on how to use the data and its sources ethically in bioscience.
First, those who generate data need to put into consideration the ethical guidelines that protect the sources of data they use. The sources can be animals, human being or secondary data. In bioscience, animals are used as a source of data from which experimental conclusions are drawn. During the process where the animals are used, they need to be protected. Like human beings, animals also have rights that must be respected. Jeopardizing animals’ right during a BioScience experiment is unethical. As a result, I am obliged as a bioscience research to minimize any harm to the animals. Ethics in bioscience research demands that I should not act in a manner that causes intentional harm to any animal species that I use in my experiments or research.

Wait! Biology sciences paper is just an example!

The same applies to the situation where data is extracted from secondary sources such as books, journals, and scholarly articles.
Secondary sources are articles, books, journals and magazines that have been published. This source is majorly used in bioscience as references or to assert a specific idea. From this article, I have come to understand that as a researcher I need to be careful with ideas that I have borrowed from secondary sources. Most of the secondary data are used by data users in the BioScience research. In many cases in bioscience research, I find myself using data from different scholar sources. These can be laboratory results, documentation by specific researchers and various thoughts from various scholars on the same topic (Duke & Porter, 2013). As a researcher in bioscience, it is unethical for me to use such data without acknowledging the authors. Therefore, it is paramount to cite the author or the knowledge borrowed to be in line with ethics in bioscience research. Further, I have learned that copying other peoples’ work directly and pasting on my article is an ethical offense in BioScience research. As a researcher, I need to avoid plagiarism and ensure that I paraphrase and cite the work I use.
In summary, ethics creates a border that defines my roles as a bioscience researcher in preserving the authenticity of data as well as the protection of the animals that are used in bioscience research and experiment. As a researcher, I have a role in ensuring that at any time I use an animal for my experiment or research, I prioritize their safety. Further, I need to ensure that I protect the authenticity of any data used.
