The Stretching Ability of Superheroes
The article, “Elastigirl doesn’t have a Skeleton, and other Considerations” by Matty Brady explains why stretchy superheroes like Elastigirl, the Elongated Man, the Plastic Man, and Mr. Fantastic have no skeletons and other human features (Matt, 2018). Matt states that humans have endoskeletons that hinder them from stretching like the superheroes of super science. However, Matt writes that there are animals such as rodents and octopus whose bone structures facilitate their stretching abilities. Matt explains that while mice do not have collapsible skeletons, they do not have collarbones and have slightly connective tissue and strong back legs that push them through small openings. Relatively, Matt states that octopus arms and human tongues stretch because they are muscular hydrostats. Finally, Matt gives an example of earthworms as animals with skeletons that can stretch, stating that they have hydrostatic skeletons. Matt concludes, therefore, that superheroes like Elastigirl use a combination of muscular hydrostats and hydrostatic skeletons to facilitate their actions.
Matt expounds on the stretching abilities of superheroes like Elastigirl and the Elongated Man by arguing that while it is impossible for human being to have such abilities, scientists can learn a lot from the characters (Matt, 2018).

Wait! Bioscience paper is just an example!

For instance, I would recommend the article to you because it helps you to learn that animals with skeleton can also stretch. Our tongues, for example, have stretching abilities because they are hydrostatic muscles. Similarly, octopus arms and the elephants’ tusk stretch because of the hydrostatic muscles. Relatively, I discovered that earthworms stretch because of their hydrostatic skeletons. Thus, the article concludes that superheroes stretch because of hydrostatic muscles and skeletons (Tobin, 2017).
The article is quite interesting and easy to understand since I was able to acquire a lot of knowledge from it. More so, it is informative to students studying science. Therefore, I feel that it is essential for a biology learner to read the article because it educates the individual on what stretching superheroes do while it is scientifically impossible for animals with skeletons to stretch. Additionally, the article has taught me to deduce scientific lessons from every scenario. For example, I have learned that hydrostatic muscles and skeletons facilitate the stretching abilities of superheroes (Matt, 2018).
