Patient’s Personal and Medical History
A female patient aged 46 years was admitted with cardiovascular disease, cardiomegaly, and interstitial oedema, which she had suffered for three weeks. The patient complained swelling of legs, feeling tired, breath shortness chest pain and skipped heartbeats (Tsai, Chen & Huang, 2013). Her heartbeat was found to be 25 beats per minutes with a low volume pulse. A pansytolic murmur could be heard as she walked or did any physical exercise. In addition to this, through echocardiography, the heart was found delated with posterior wall contrasting vigorously.
Drug Therapy and Treatment
The patient was first administered with intravenous diuretics and nitroglycerin to reduce the work done by the heart. Also, she was given morphine drugs to lessen the pain as a result of forced breath. To improve the general health of the heart and treat hypertension which is the primary cause of cardiomegaly, the patient was given angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) drugs (Ohshima et al., 2014). After showing some improvements, co-amilofruse drug one daily was prescribed for a long term.
Patient Follow-up
Blood pressure of the patient was monitored as she continued to heal to ensure the required level is maintained since nitroglycerin administered causes hypotension. Depression effect of morphine was also controlled from time to time (Negus et al., 2015). The patient was also observed continuously for any sudden changes in his heart rate to see whether the drugs are making her better or worsening the condition.

At least two people had to be present to assist in case she developed a cardiac arrest.

Influence of Female Gender to Treatment
Being a female contributed a lot towards patient’s care and healing. First, women are always willing to ask for help. Masculine gender believes that nothing is beyond their control and therefore should not ask for an assistant but try up to the end (Manteuffel et al., 2014). Second, women are known to humble themselves and follow instructions from the doctor. On the other hand, if it was a man, he could have gone with a fixed mind on the kind of drugs he should be given or treatment.
