Celebrity Culture vs. the Real World
Celebrities refer to those individuals who are recognized in the society for being successful. On the other hand, religion refers to a set of values and beliefs held by a group of people passionately. The acts or ways of life of celebrities are adored and cherished by their respective fans and hence passionately follow the values held by those celebrities. On that line of thought, celebrities have a high chance of influencing the society. This is due to the fact that a celebrity has a massive following of people who are willing to follow the views of the celebrity (Marshall 189).
One of the fundamental aspects of politics is the capability of an individual to convince the people to buy his/her idea (Godwin 73). Celebrities have the advantage in the political arena since they can easily convince their fans to buy their political idea. Pop culture refers to the set of beliefs or practices that have become dominant at a given point in time. For politicians to relate to the masses, they have to appreciate pop culture.
Currently, the use of social media can be considered as part of pop culture, and politicians in the US exploits it. President Trump is argued to be running the US as a reality show this is based on the numerous counts of him creating dramas (Lucia n.p).
The Arab nations tend to favor the concept of hegemony which benefits the male gender. Celebrities have the capability to cause a revolution on hegemony; however, it requires courage and confidence to win the fight.

It can be noted that Aydah Al Jahnani and Lima Sahar from UAE and Afghanistan respectively had to have confidence in their struggle to become a celebrity despite being urged to quit. In the two videos, it can be noted that there is the presence of hegemony. The society is not willing to allow ladies to engage in activities that might make them superior in a given aspect of life. For instance, Lima Sahar was urged by her friends to quit joining the Afghan Star (Schneider n.p).
The youths in the Arab nations adore the western culture, but the Arab environment cannot allow the entire practice of the Western culture. The celebrity culture created by Aydah Al Jahnani and Lima Sahar in their respective nations has played a critical role in ending hegemony. The youths have been influenced that indeed they can decide their destination by defying the status quo. It can be noted that celebrity culture makes the fans of the celebrity to adopt a given way of doing things as the celebrity, and this includes ending acts that support hegemony as it is the case of Aydah Al Jahnani who boldly joined various competition and emerged a winner in a number of them, despite the Afghan environment being unfavorable for women. The innovation such as 4shbab (for youths) changes some aspect of Western innovation to fit into the Arab nations (Shereen n.p). As a result, the pop culture has been able to penetrate various boundaries.
The fact that celebrities influence a large crowd, through their actions they can influence a mass culture. From the film, Shereen El Feki asserts that the Islamic world is rapidly changing due to westernization. She can demonstrate this by using 4shabab, an Islamic television, to influence a multitude of Islamic youths to lead a good life. Haifa Wehbe, a Lebanese pop star celebrity, strives to change the face of Islam by producing videos that inspire the young people to deal with the challenges they encounter every day (Shereen n.p). Through this approach, it changes the culture and attitude of young people in the Arab World.
