Abstract
Climate change is one of the enormous environmental issues the world is facing today. Despite the perceived magnitude of this issue, some people continue to argue that climate change is not real but is rather a hoax. Those opposed to the reality of climate change base their argument on their distrust of science while others cite a lack of proof. This paper provides a review of an article on whether climate change is real. While the author of the article presents climate change as a mere hoax, this paper seeks to refute that claim while providing reasons to justify the chosen position. The effects of greenhouse emissions on climate change are discussed. Different phenomena that suggest that the global climate is changing are also discussed including the reduction of snow, diminishing of ice sheets, rising of the global sea level, and acid acidification. It is concluded that climate change is real and that actions are needed to control the greenhouse emissions.
According to Guerzini (2018), the issue of climate change is exaggerated and, although the climate might be changing slightly, the changes are not as severe as depicted by scientists. He downplays global warming citing a small change in temperature in 138 years. I disagree with the author that climate change is not a reality. While it is true that global temperature has only increased by 1.4 ºF on average for 138 years, it is worth noting that much of this temperature increase (over 1 degree Fahrenheit) occurred in the last 35 years owing to the increasing human activity on earth.

Wait! Climate change paper is just an example!

With greenhouse emissions are currently highest in history, climate change is unequivocal (“Climate change evidence: How do we know?”, 2018).
As opposed to the author’s argument that many changes are the result of natural cycles of the climate, the recent increase in global warming with the increasing industrialization suggest that human activities are primarily responsible for climate change. The greenhouse effect is the leading cause of climate change. The greenhouse emissions have increased significantly over the past few decades (“Climate change evidence: How do we know?”, 2018). In addition to global warming, there is also vast, compelling evidence to suggest that climate change is a reality. Shrinking of ice sheets and reduction of snow cover, especially in the northern hemisphere, are some of the consequences of the increasing global temperatures. The melting of ice has led to a notable rise in the sea level over the last decade. Ocean acidification is also evidence of climatic change as a result of the high level of acid gasses emitted by human activities which partly dissolve in oceans (“Climate change evidence: How do we know?”, 2018). Hence, there is a clear need for measures to curb the atmospheric levels of greenhouse emissions.
