Conservative Resurgence.
The conservative resurgence of the 1970s took shape after Roe vs. Wade legalized abortion and made it a human right. Antifeminist and most Americans rallied against this new amendment of the law blaming liberal welfare establishments for the eroded social standards (Norton, 301). A cultural warfare hence broke out in the 1970s across several American states. The new shift to the right saws a change in the law in most states with stricter laws put in place restrict abortion. The shift to the rights also saws a rise in church leaders in political matters and the growth of American morality question within politics culminated with the landslide reelection of Ronald Reagan (Norton, 299).
The shift in rights also saw a shift in political power, with political power in the USA shifting from the Northeast side to south where both Nixon and Reagan hailed from. The conservative resurgence also saw a change in American attitude (Johnson, 139). The Watergate events made many American skeptical about the government. The conservative era also saw an increase in sexuality within common Americans outside traditional boundaries of marriage and religion. Despite the conservative efforts’ long hair, revealing clothing and a sexual theme within the society has persisted to the present day.
The shift to the new rights has led to changes in both local and foreign policies. Women’s right was upheld with women allowed to vote in August of 1970.

The horror of the Vietnam events also helped shape government policies towards war and foreign nations (Johnson, 143). The shift in right left a lasting legacy on various aspects of todays society. The church and other religious beliefs play central roles in both political and cultural aspects of the community today.
