According to Trichromatic theory, the retina of an eye is made up of three receptors whose responsibility involves color perception. Each of the three receptors found on the retina is sensitive to a color red, blue or green (Pillow, 2016). When all the three colors are combined, any feasible color to the retina will be perceived. It is based on the observation that a person is only able to match colors when exposed to three wavelengths of light not two. Therefore, the ability for the brain to interpret colors is based on how strong the detected signal of receptor cells is. The opponent- process theory explains that the person’s perception of colors is controlled by three opposing complexes of the receptor (Hurvich, & Jameson, 1957). The receptor is only able to detect that a particular single color is present at one time rather than both colors. It is based on the observation that people are unable to see both colors since the opponent cells are only able to detect either one of the colors not all. The theory works through the inhibitory and excitatory responses controlled by neurons oppose each other.
Naturally, colors have a signaling system that is very strong. Different colors symbolize different things people encounter or experience in life. For instance, red color symbolizes danger, white peace and dark as bad luck, etc. Whenever human beings are assessing anything, they first register color which causes a particular instinct. It is the instinct inside the brain of a person that creates colors when they encounter them.

A person with the disorder may not find everyday life normal. Not everything will work out well for them as they will in a way or the other see something wrong with life. A person may not report to work daily and on time. Such a person always finds it hard to associate with others as they worry about their problem. They have less of the leisure time as they are preoccupied with uneasiness. A person’s behaviors may sometimes change to become violent, secretive and aggressive among others.
