Counselling Youths and Adolescents
In the present world, children and adolescents should have access to a full array of mental health services. Majorly, sound mental health to a child leads to a profound impact on the child’s capacity to succeed in school and society. The mental health of a child determines how the child, acts, feels and thinks. Intellectual disorders may result from a wide variety of risks such as genetics community, school, family and peer influences. Children and young adults are in the danger of being influenced to unethical deeds per their community norms. For example, many young adults are dragged in alcoholism by peer pressure. In efforts to curb the increasing moral decay of children and youths, counselling organizations have trained experts whom guide and counsel children and youths. Qualified expert’s needs to posse good qualities geared toward helping the young generation. This paper elaborates how my strengths and weakness may or may not be of help in a counselling process. The below illustrations confirms how my strengths and limitation impact on the counselling process.
Feltham, Hanley and Winter (2017) remind us that, therapeutic skills are essential to clinicians who deal with children and adolescences. Being a clinician, I find it easy to apply verbal and non-verbal cues to establish an emotional environment to my clients. Notably, an emotional atmosphere helps to safely create a therapeutic environment, maintain it, and safely terminate it.

Wait! Counseling Children and Adolescents paper is just an example!

Working with the adolescent has been much more fruitful than any other group. I often find it enjoyable when dealing with adolescents. My therapeutics skills help my clients see how their life experiences have been influenced by a particular issue, whether they would like to continue living in such a situation and if there are possible solutions to the subject. One of my major limitation in this field is that I make a lot of follow up activities to my clients, to some it seems a nuisance. However, it feels good to see my clients fully taking new leaves in their lives. Dealing with people in most cases needs one to be up-to-date with the current issues within society. The world is changing and thus is creativity and innovation. Hence, I find it essential in assessing my strengths and limitations to develop ways which suit the current child and adolescent in the present world.
In conclusion, therapeutic skills are of great importance to clinicians. People change their ways when they are guided to understand their actions and characters. Youths and children need to be guided time and again for them to remain in the right path. Counsellors need to be competent in their fields to adequately help the young generation from peer influence.
