Depression as a cause of suicide in Ecuador

 

Depression is a mental illness that affects a large number of people within Ecuador. It can be a controllable problem but can also become a very serious health problem, especially when it is long lasting. It can cause great suffering and alter the activities of daily life, in the worst case it can lead to suicide. As Durkheim says: suicide varies in reverse proportion to the degree of integration of social groups to which the individual belongs. Is suicide one of the depression outputs? There are many solutions for depression such as going to the psychologist or even the psychiatrist. Throughout the trial several aspects will be described and important statistics will be given. The distymic disorder is a type of depression of subclinical category, which allows the person who suffers from it apparently has a “normal” level of operation, although it should be emphasized that maintains a state of discouragement and is not satisfied with anything. The second type of depression is the depressive disorder that can be mild or severe. It is a clinical disorder that interferes with the ability of a person to carry out their daily activities such as sleeping, eating, working, studying, among others. (J. Varas, 2016).

Finally, in 2015 1.073 people committed suicide. (INEC, 2015).

In conclusion, depression is one of the main causes of suicide in different countries and within Latin America, Ecuador is one of the countries with the greatest depression and suicide. There are different types that can be controlled, but there are many that are not detected on time and causes many problems. The symptoms in some cases are very clear, but in others they are confusing and let go. We must be aware of what is happening in the country and take into account the aforementioned figures, and realize that the level of depression is increasing that is why it is recommended to constantly go to a psychologist so that mental illnesses arereduce and do not cause long -term problems such as suicide.
