Question 1
Social workers should consider various ethical principles when allocating limited resources to avoid ethical problems. Pursuing social change specifically for the oppressed and vulnerable groups and individuals is a principle. A social worker should first consider allocating limited resources to the disadvantaged people in the society. Additionally, social workers should consider the ethical principle that their primary goal is to address social issues and assist needy people when allocating scarce resources (Dolgoff, Harrington, Loewenberg). All the needy people should be assisted equally without any discrimination.
Question 2
The social work profession needs to advocate for the removal of discrimination from the society. This advocacy is crucial since discrimination is considered unethical in the social work profession. The 2008 NASW code of ethics asserts that social workers are not supposed to facilitate, condone, collaborate, or practice any discrimination (Dolgoff, Harrington, and Loewenberg). Additionally, the advocacy is crucial because discrimination creates social problems in the profession such as preventing social workers from achieving the goals of social work and ethical aims of giving people equitable resources and services.
Question 3
Certain ethical issues exist in the 9.6 case illustration. These include the dual relationship between the social worker and the family, and the right of the mother to self-determination in paying off pressing bills.

The alternatives are advocating for policy change for special clothing allowances for disadvantaged children or mobilizing a volunteer network to look for better clothes donations for the children (Dolgoff, Harrington, and Loewenberg). As a profession, I would advocate for policy change to solve the problem that other children may have.

Discrimination is evident in the 9.3 case illustration. Sexual orientation discrimination is one of the prejudices whereby the couple is judged wrongly for being lesbians. The perception is that a child raised with lesbian parents will lead to peer rejection and their sexual identity affected negatively (Dolgoff, Harrington, and Loewenberg). Thus, lesbians discriminated for child adoption.

Social justice is defined as the concept based on every individual having an equal right to get the social benefits. This concept relates to ethics and the helping profession because ethical problems occur when limited resources are preventing the equal distribution of resources (Dolgoff, Harrington, and Loewenberg). Social workers can distribute resources equally unless beneficence and fairness outweigh the situation.
Question 6
Certain ethical issues exist in the 9.2 case illustration. These include professional boundaries, conflict in personal values, and discrimination. The alternatives would be to keep quiet and let the inequality to continue or bother Keisha and become short of staff. (Dolgoff, Harrington, and Loewenberg). I would advocate for the discriminated clients and provide Latoya with the NASW code of ethics.
