Equality
Equality concerns people in a society having the same status regarding property right, civil rights, civil rights, and opportunities in access to social services. This principle provides push-backs against discrimination of individuals by race, gender, class, language, disability, and other social or economic status. Equality in the society is enhanced by governments on a local and national level through initiatives and policies that guard against any form of unfair treatment. Even so, international organizations such as the United Nations (UN), and the International Labor Organization (ILO) have made concerted efforts to ensure that equality is achieved among countries. More importantly, equality can be achieved through the distribution of political and civic participation, health services, and remuneration.
The distribution of the same opportunities in the political and civic space for all individuals is a sensitive, but important way of promoting equality. This concept is a crucial factor in the society because it enables individuals to participate in the electoral process that cut across voting in presidential and parliamentary elections. The organization of the political power structure in a country has a profound influence on how the citizens find their place within the social fabric. The citizens are the main participants in the political life of a country and promoting democracy in the election process is the foundation of a state’s stability.

A case scenario is the policy formulation and implementations by UN Women that has seen women elected as Heads of States such as in Germany, Norway and Liberia.
Equal distribution of health services and social security also goes a long way in promoting equality in the society. This concept is measured by social indicators such as the child mortality rate and life expectancy and further broken down into socioeconomic status, distribution of amenities, gender, and area of residence. Countries and international organizations put emphasis on the quality and availability of social and health facilities that cater to all individuals and households. The World Health Organization (WHO) has been on the front line in ensuring that member states implement policies and programs directed toward promoting equity in health. This is because better health for individuals is essential to human well-being and happiness. Further, it contributes to economic progress as a healthy population is more productive and lives longer.
Equal distribution of remunerated employments and work opportunities is the main determinant of economic and social growth in both developed and developing countries. It is the function of governments to implement policies and mechanism that ensure all citizens have an equal chance to seize an opportunity to work and earn a living without discriminating barriers such as race, gender, and color. For instance, the International Labor Organization (ILO) ensures that all individuals, whether immigrants or natives, are treated fairly in the workplaces. Further, the organization promotes decent employment opportunities, rights at work, strengthen understanding of work-related issues, and enhance social protection at work.
Equality is fundamental to the well-being of individuals in a country because it guards against discrimination of all members despite their differences in social origin, gender, color, or race. Countries and international organizations have ensured that this principle is upheld in the health, employment, and electoral aspects. For instance, there has been an increase in women in elective posts across the world such as heads of states and parliamentarians. Additionally, international organizations such as the ILO have ensured that all individuals are respected and fairly treated at the place of work. Admittedly, the rise and promotion of equality in all aspects of life have set countries on a path of development.
