Essay on the work: Metamorphosis

It is a very interesting story in addition to being able to show as Gregory little by little it ceases to be a human converted into an insect with human thoughts. If we reflect we can realize that one of the ideas and techniques posedthat, if instead of thinking that Gregorio became an insect, he despised him with less relevance as he was against his parents’ wishes, probably the behavior they adopted, would be the same, to reject him, without tryingre -join ties with him.

The story initially tells us Gregorio’s life, a man who has become an insect. This story was very emotional and makes us reflect on the cases that usually happen in our homes when there is no interest of the family and there is no support that we require when we have a void in our heart without being able to vent with someone we want too much and theyThey are remotely feeling in an ignored way treating us as an animal as in history to feel like a beetle that nobody takes attention locked up with an idea that is not correct asking us because life behaves thus behaving that it is not so because peopleThey move away without reason.

But as we mature we see the evolution of society;Because at first we see that everything is a screen that segates us from what is in front of us, and this is quite ironic that we could even laugh at so much mediocrity that there are people, why we were going to talk about theFamily, who initially are quite scared and worried about the transformation of insect that Gregorio Samsa generated, is understandable from society, where everyone only looks for personal interest and benefit away from the people who used to feel good and they wereIn the good and bad times, when we need a small advice those people disappeared from our lives making us clear who are actually our friends and family as we thought

He moved to Berlin to concentrate on his writings and his health, but aggravated so much, until he died on June 3. For this reason, he asked his friend Max Brod, before he died that please destroyed all his texts, but he ignored his request and turned out to project worldwide among Kafka’s works, in addition to the

Metamorphosis, stand out: in the penitentiary colony, letter to the father, the castle or the process, some of them have been taken to the seventh art on continuous occasions. He fought until the last day of his life to stay active; But tuberculosis ended up his life at age 40, on June 3, 1924.

Metamorphosis is a story where the transformation of Gregorio Samsa, a traveler of fabric trade, in a monstrous insect, is narrated and the impact that this event will have not only on his life, but on that of his family. The story begins with Gregorio Samsa’s awakening in his house’s room and the feeling of having an uneasy dream. Then he discovers, little by little, his new situation, his innumerable legs, his bulging abdomen, the shell that has now turned his back, his new and strong jaws. This event, which is part of the fantastic, will trigger a series of problems for Gregory and his family.

First, Gregorio is the only support of the Samsa family, composed of his sister and his parents; His work as a trade traveler allows him to assume these household expenses and pay a debt contracted by the father with his current employer. In spite of everything, Gregorio’s first concern will be how to justify his current situation before his boss, his delay (he had to take the train from five in the morning). Has not fallen into the account, yet, the seriousness of his situation. He even chooses to sleep a little more, hoping that the transformation will be reversed and everything returns to normal. A agent of the stores where Gregorio works will come to look for him at the house, outraged by the situation. Gregorio will make huge efforts to open the door and then appear, for the first time, in view of his family with his new form: that of a huge beetle.

The family does not know, at first, how to act in the new situation. The sister, who feels great affection for Gregorio, however, will pumped her brother and will be the one who feeds him and takes care of him. The family economy, the main concern of all in view of the state of Gregorio, will undergo new adjustments: household expenses will be cut to the maximum, the maid will go only twice a day to clean it, one of theRooms to three tenants, and the three family members will be forced to work. The new situation with tenants will generate, however, conflicts. Men are very demanding with cleaning and the family tries to keep Gregorio. One night, the sister, Greta, will play the violin for the tenants and these, attracted by music, will invite her to play in the room. Fascinated by the melody, Gregorio leaves his room, in a final impulse of human sensitivity, to listen to his sister. But being discovered, a great uproar will be generated that will end the abandonment of the tenants of the house and with Gregorio with an apple embedded in the shell, thrown by the father to scare him after that confusing situation, the family understands that the situationGregorio is unsustainable. Gregorio also understands it, so that he will decide to lock himself definitively in his room, he will stop out and give up feeding, invaded by a deep feeling of sadness. Days later, the maid will find him dead in the room.

This novel makes us know that it is narrated in the first person, physical space where the characters pass. Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka, is a work in which space is key to the development of the plot is a dark environment, full of frustrations and anxiety.. The story takes place in a closed place, the Samsa family house.

The literary genre of a novel is epic, since it is a place and time in which the work takes place:

The work takes place in the house of Gregor Samsa, the protagonist in 1910. Historical time:

Regarding Franz Kafka’s personal situation that supposes the context of this work, at the time when metamorphosis writes the relationship with his father was bad. This was due to a recent love of attending the theatrical performances of the Jewish neighborhood (Yiddish Theater). It even becomes a great friend of a theater company. His father implies that these relationships will make the same nonsense and acquire the same vices as the actors. The distancing and continuous tension was the motivation of metamorphosis -both his father, like Gregor’s in the novel, come to his son as a parasite.

Characters:

  • Gregorio Samsa: is the main character of the work. Suffers the transformation. Very conflictive. He died alone and very sad.
  • Mr. Samsa: This character was Gregorio’s father. He was affectionate with his wife and daughter, but treated Gregorio with indifference after metamorphosis.
  • Mrs. Samsa: This character was Gregorio’s mother. He passed out every time he saw the Gregorio transform. She is very happy when Gregorio finally dies with great happiness for it .
  • Grete: This character was Gregorio’s sister. Who was in charge of the principle of taking care of his brother and the cleaning of Gregorio’s room.
  • The three tenants: these gentlemen lived with the Samsa. They were very demanding, and they only shared among them.
  • The maid: she was an old lady, very thin. She took care of Gregorio, liked to bother him, telling her things like "Come here old beetle!”She was the one who discovered the dead Gregory.

Literary figures found in the narrative

  • hyperbole (‘a thousand times tried in vain this operation’) hyperbole (it was possible to continue sleeping despite the fact that that sound shuddered to furniture ’)
  • Simile (the other two had their hands crossed behind their back
  • (He remained a quiet and quiet point, with his eyes fixed on the ground, as if his thoughts were organized in a new disposition within his Magín.’)
  • Chronography (‘When Gregorio Samsa woke up one morning after an uneasy dream, he found himself on his bed turned into a monstrous insect’)
  • antithesis (‘flat and dry’)
  • periphrasis (‘I was lying on his hard back, and in the form of a shell and, when lifting his head a little, he saw a bulging belly, brownish, divided by hard parts in the form of an arc, on whose protuberance the coverage could barely keeppoint to slip to the ground. His many legs, ridiculously small compared to the rest of his size, vibrated to the eyes in the eyes.’)
  • Simile (‘Gregorio woke up until night from a heavy dream, similar to fading’)
  • hyperbole (it is a trope – it is the replacement of one expression with another whose sense is figurative – that consists in performing a very large exaggeration, increasing or decreasing the truth of what is spoken, so that the one who receives the message, gives it moreImportance to action itself and not to the quality of this action, that is, it is an intentional exaggeration with the objective of capturing in the interlocutor an idea or a difficult image to forget)
  • Used in the work: ‘A thousand times he tried in vain this operation’;It is an exaggeration to say that he has trying a thousand times; It is an exaggeration analogous to the number legs that Gregorio has in his new state, and that he cannot control, as well as his desire to change position. In this way, Gregorio is unable in his body, he has no power or regulation on him, nor does he have it with his life

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, with respect to metamorphosis, it is that the author is talking figuratively, this means that Gregorio Samsa did not physically transform into a cockroach, but is related to the emotional feelings possessed by the protagonist. The clear reflection of their feelings is presented to a diversity of factors that overwhelmed their lives such as their relationship with the family, routine, society. Etc. The change that the character, from human to insect may also beIt surrounded him. Therefore, the author’s intentionality is clear: he wants, it may unconsciously, to show an childhood that marks him for the rest of his life, which is the same that marked the transformation of Gregory. After analyzing the work, we conclude that metamorphosis could be conceived and analyzed as a social criticism or at least as the reflection of a human reality. In other words. It is given from a reflective and personal point of view of each. Life is not to discover daily, but it is a passively traveled path in order to reach death, the protagonist then has only the expectation that this illogical outcome will happen. Gregorio Samsa gradually experiences an entertainment process. Little by little he begins to have an insect’s own wishes (such as climbing the walls of his room, or eating food in the process of rot) and leaves behind his human concerns until he reaches his own death.
