Describe the purpose of the clinical interview, physical examination, and formal behavioral assessment in the evaluation process.
Clinical interview is to assist psychologists in determining and planning for the treatment of a patient. The interview gives psychologists a picture of patient’s life such that they can come up with better approaches of handling the patient. The purpose of the Physical examination is to guide PCP in determining the general health status of an individual. The use of formal behavioral assessment is to offer enough information needed to design a better behavior support plans for the patients. FBA is also useful in various settings such as in clinical, educational and corporate to obtain necessary information about the behaviors of individuals.
Describe Sigmund Freud’s theory of psychosexual development
The theory proposes that the development of a child occurs in a series of constant psychosexual stages. As individuals grows from one step to another, some parts of their bodies change to become essential sources of pleasure or even sources for potential frustrations. The theory also asserts that the life of an individual is revolving around tensions and pleasure.
For instance, all strains are as a result building up of sexual energy while all pleasures emerge from its discharge. The theory argues that what develops in an individual body is the manner in which sexual energy discharges and accumulates as they grow biologically (Kline, N.p).
Describe biggest strengths of cognitive theory
One of the most significant advantages of the cognitive approach is that it has a variety of practical applications. For instance, some studies tend to illustrate how the philosophy of mind is a deficit of autism and eventually offered a new examination for mind’s theory. The approach is also applied in other studies such as forensic psychology and testimonies involving eyewitnesses.
Again, cognitive theory relies strongly on experiments as it primary method of research. For example, it uses different lab experiments to determine the impact of governing questions in the memory. It also uses lab examinations to assess cognitive interviewing approaches such as guidance on detectives.
