Freedom is an essential aspect of human life, and it is impossible for humans to live in peace if some of them are not enjoying freedom. That is why slavery was fought even by those who were free including the southerners who opposed sculptor Thomas Crawford’s design for a Statue of Freedom. In the case of Dred Scott, chief justice Roger ruled that Scott was not a citizen but a slave. He had no right whatsoever to sue for his freedom. The Congress also was in no position to refuse slavery.
Politics of a country is always affected by the current situation of that particular country and its citizens. The nomination. The same is demonstrated by this excerpt, “The issue of Texas annexation was linked to slavery and affected the nominations of presidential candidates. a. Clay and Van Buren.” As the Americans pushed towards the West, a group of people who were given privileges and others completely harassed. This removes freedom out of the picture making it be earned. The expansion yielded: the Mormon’s treck, continental expansion, the Mexican frontier, the Texas revolt, the election of 1844 and the road to war. The effect of the decision that was made towards Scott was major. The division became greater between the South and North. Racism is not a recent problem, it as there long before our existence. Maybe it only had no proper reference. Judiciary in most instances have been on the forefront in the fight for freedom during the olden days and today.

Slavery has been the most significant threat to the human liberty as it took the center stage with the emergence of several acts from the Congress. The press is always one of the most reliable sources of information even during the olden days. The war news from Mexico reached the Americans through the press (Foner 412).
