INTRODUCTION.
Madonna and child are a relic art that became famous in the early 15th century. It represents the figure Mary the mother of Jesus, and Jesus the son of God as a child. Madonna in the Italian language is translated to mean my lady. It achieved high praise due to the influence the Catholic Church had in the 15th century.
APPEARANCE.
Madonna and child are a representation of Mary the Virgin and her baby Jesus in a maternal position. Giotto di Bondone was an Italian painter whose art was considered revolutionary. His polyptych was different from others in his time given his three dimensions art work. His use of colors, shadows and characters in his art combined a fine display of future painting and his time’s artwork of Mary mother of Jesus and the baby Jesus. Giotto seems to target a more family oriented approach on the relationship Jesus had with his mother. In his work, the child tries to get the flower that Mary is holding while in her arms. It seeks to showcase the maternal relationship in the family. His work also used gold as used in most Madonna artwork. Giotto’s Madonna achieved its purpose as a revolutionary piece of art and religious artifact given the three dimension display and the maternal representation of Mary and baby Jesus.

Madonna artworks became popular in the 13th to the 15th that marked the Byzantine artistic era. Most of these paintings and sculptures embodied the life of Jesus as the world’s savior.

He acts as a mentor in our era where everyone has to be very innovative in expressing our passion and thus attracting the target audience. He came up with different ways to express the society’s view on Mary the Virgin which made his work a relic till date.

Giotto was a painter and architect who inspired the growth of three-dimensional art. His methods have been described as ahead of his time but ultimately reflect his right as an artist. He used what was available and created something new by changing the normal procedure to suit his imagination. His work inspires everyone both as a religious relic and as an artistic reference.
